Had a great time getting my geek on at WonderCon Saturday. The crowds were massive and I had a mild "AHHH! Too many people!" moment, but fortunately I managed to find a nice quiet room full of people watching anime where I could sit in the dark and not get stepped on or knocked into for a bit and I was fine after that. Got to chat with T- and D- who were exhibiting their own comics, meet Mike Mignola (wow), and chat with a gal done up as Princess Yue (who was over the moon that someone actually recognized her). Aelf and I also discovered a great little Thai takeout place where we had an excellent lunch/dinner. And people were grabbing the Paranormals flyers, which made me very happy indeed.

Yesterday was the kind of day that makes you want to hang up a hammock, fix yourself a tall glass of lemonade and just swing side to side for a few hours contemplating the clouds passing overhead. If I had a hammock I think that's just what I would've done, sadly I do not and I had a quilt to work on. Didn't get as far as I'd hoped, but at least the edges are all pinned up and ready for me to work on tonight. Then it's just painting on the element symbols and calligraphy and that's it, it's all done.

It has also been definitively proven that American airlines is way better than Southwest, so if you can avoid SW please do so, you'll be glad you did.

So Ann Coulter implies that John Edwards is a "faggot" at CPAC and people are surprised by this. No, really, they're actually surprised that she'd say this, as if she hasn't been jumping through higher and higher flaming hoops in a mad attempt to keep the rabid wingnuts drooling for more for years now. Of course now the same folks who spent last week telling us how potty-mouthed and angry the Left is are now doing their damnedest to distance themselves from Coulter. They're shocked, shocked to hear her use such vulgarity.

But fortunately for her she hasn't lost all of her admiring fans, and at the top of the list is...

...wait for it...

Jeff Gannon!

...I was in the room at CPAC when Ann said it. She was making a joke and it was funny. She was mocking the very process that is taking place right now -- political correctness run amok....

That "faggot" has become the new "N-word" is evidence of how far our culture has drifted. For decades, the "F-word" was the four-letter one you couldn't say on television, but now it's part of mainstream liberal vernacular. However, rallying behind a slur of their own, gays can take to the streets in their assless chaps and nipple piercings and skip the two centuries of slavery and a hundred years of separate lunch counters and drinking fountains to demand whatever they can extort from pandering politicians....

And the wingnut hordes still love them some Ann:

Ann called John Edwards a queer. Is it true? If it is he's dead meat. I can't believe Coulter would call Edwards a queer unless she knew he was. There would be no point in falsely calling him queer because he is not a serious contender.

The Left pays lip service to butt-bangers but when they can they show their disapproval of homosexuality. Look at how they tried to embarrass Dick Cheney because his daughter was a lesbian.

----

More so call "conservative" cry baby crap. Hey Cons, get a life and grow some balls. This liberal type stuff from our side is getting sickening.

----

Ann should apologize for the "faggot" comment just as soon as the leftwing moonbats apologize for their "Bush lied, people died, selected, not elected, no WMD . . . " and countless other far more offensive comments which get passed along and even rubber-stamped by our Kool-Aid drinking media whores.
[Editor's note: We have to apologize for the fact that no WMD's were found? I...wha-?]

----

I think it is a sad day when we let faggots or the liberals tell us what we can an can't say. How did we get here?

...Ann I love you.

Shorter entire goutosphere, circa 2001-2007, a play

Enter RIGHT BLOGOSPHERE and LEFT BLOGOSPHERE. In the background, images variously flash of KITTENS, 9/11, ANIME CHICKS, CRAPPY PHOTOSHOP, STUPID INDIE ROCK, and THE Ms. WORLD PAGEANT

9/11/01
RIGHT and LEFT blogosphere: Oh, shit!

(pause for justifiable and widely supported war in AFGHANISTAN. War is approaching successful conclusion when RIGHT BLOGOSPHERE interrupts)

RIGHT blogosphere: Because I remain fearful, that dude over there should go somewhere or other and get his face blown off.

LEFT blogosphere: What? That’s an incredibly stupid idea.

RIGHT blogosphere: You are a traitor, and should be hanged, shot, run down by an angry mob, attacked by domestic terrorists, attacked by foreign terrorists, or denied your freedom of movement and action.

LEFT blogosphere: What the fuck? You’re cavalierly sending others to their doom, I fucking well have the obligation to respond.

RIGHT blogosphere: Oh great, pottymouth. You’ve ruined everything. Now we have to kill EVERYONE!

LEFT blogosphere: What the fuck? You titanic assholes.

(repeat final six lines until everyone except RIGHT blogosphere is depressed, angry, or dead)

I'm really glad I wasn't the only one who had this reaction to the 60 Minutes piece on the economy last night:

Excuse me, but where were he and 60 Minutes during the past six years when the Republicans blew a record surplus and dug us into a hole so deep he now says the republic is in danger?

Damn these people. Every single time these crooked Republicans get in power they line their pockets with taxpayer funded boondoggles and tax cuts for their rich supporters then start rending their garments over the looming fiscal catastrophe they created and demand the government stop spending on all those parasitic old people and children (whose "failure of citizenship" apparently dwarfs that of the corrupt thieves who stole the nation blind and threw buckets of money down the toilet in expensive failures like Iraq.) Oh, and raising taxes is completely unacceptable.

Republicans have proven once again that they are out of control children who completely trash the country's fiscal integrity whenever they get a chance, requiring the Democrats to come in and do the painful things that are required to fix them. And every step of the way, they Republicans dog them with absurd "tax and spend" rhetoric.

It's a great racket for the GOP but it's long past time the nation put a stop to this insanity. It would be helpful if 60 Minutes at least put some of that in perspective when they get on the "responsibility" train and explain to the American people why this is. "Those days are gone" is not adequate.

Just watched the latest episode of BSG and first, [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain I don't think you should watch this one any time soon. Or if you do, don't watch it alone. Seriously.

My thoughts on Maelstrom... )
