My friend J- made it into town only an hour late yesterday and was in surprisingly good spirits for someone who'd spent the entire day being bounced from airport to airport. I got him a pizza and myself a burrito and we settled in to talk while he watched the remainder of the Super Bowl. He seemed pleased that the Giants won so I was happy for him. Then we found a Stealth lacrosse game on and watched that and talked some more. Finally I had to drag myself off to bed, but not before showing him how the new loveseat bed worked so he could get some sleep as well.

In other news Saturday morning marked the return of me and several of the gals I most like to dance with to veil work. I can't even begin to tell you how wonderful it was to get back to something I love straight down to my toes, though the best part was doing it with some of the best and most enthusiastic dancers I've ever had the privilege of dancing with. We started out just going over the basics then it quickly evolved into an impromptu choreography session with everyone throwing moves together and me supplying the music. We were having so much fun we blew right past the one hour mark and just kept working, then excitedly planned the next class. I already can't wait to go!

And no Monday is complete without my review of the latest SGA episode, so here's what I thought of Outcast: )

You know I saw the trailer for 10,000 B.C. before some movie or other and I remember sitting there with my jaw hanging open. I mean as soon as I realized they had wooly mammoths building pyramids my brain just locked up. Seriously the letters WTF were hovering over my head in big neon lights.

So I knew it was going to be wretched, but until I read the actual description of the film, I didn't know just how wretched. Check it:

From director Roland Emmerich comes a sweeping odyssey into a mythical age of prophesies and gods, when spirits rule the land and mighty mammoths shake the earth. In a remote mountain tribe, the young hunter, D’Leh (Steven Strait), has found his heart’s passion – the beautiful Evolet (Camilla Belle). When a band of mysterious warlords raid his village and kidnap Evolet, D’Leh is forced to lead a small group of hunters to pursue the warlords to the end of the world to save her. Driven by destiny, the unlikely band of warriors must battle saber-tooth tigers and prehistoric predators and, at their heroic journey’s end, they uncover a Lost Civilization. Their ultimate fate lies in an empire beyond imagination, where great pyramids reach into the skies. Here they will take their stand against a powerful god who has brutally enslaved their people.

Yes, my friends, this film actually got funding and was made. It's real, it's really real. Just reading that made my brain ache like I'd just eaten too much ice cream too fast.

Words fail...

Gotta' say I'm really enjoying the great wailing and gnashing of teeth amongst the wingnuts over what looks like a McCain nomination. Sadly, No! links to some of the most vicious of the backlash which mostly boils down to McCain as Manchurian Candidate or limp dick. Stay classy, wingnuts!

As some of the commenters said, "Yes, yes, give in to your hate!" I hope they tear each others' throats out and that the wingnuttiest of the crew will refuse to vote, preferring to stay home pouting and watching Fred Thompson re-runs.

Also loved what commenter just me pointed out:

McCain was the first grand implosion of the season. That is just long enough ago where people seem to forget it. We’ll see how well his “message” holds up when he’s put front and center again. I don’t think it’s going to fly very well. I’m not ruling out the Mittster quite yet, but Tuesday will tell.

Not to mention that while he might be able to dance between “Maverick” and “Glass Parking Lot” for the primary faithful, that pony’s going to run about two steps in a general. Every time he brings up one, he’s going to get smacked with the other. I’ve seen some polls that show him close with the Dem, but I really don’t believe it.

Poor McCain, he spent so much time on his knees catering to the far right bigots and religious nut-bags that he's going to have to eat an awful lot of crow. My heart positively bleeds for him.
