Quick post before I call it an early night. First many thanks to both [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf and [livejournal.com profile] tersa for making me the proud mom of a TiVo system. Yes, I have joined the twenty first century at last. I've started the season pass project which I suspect will continue over the next few weeks wherein I exclaim, "Oh yeah!" at random moments and hastily add a new title to the queue.

One show that will not remain on the queue is the abomination based on my beloved "Cupid" series. As I said in comments on a previous post, watching it was, I expect, akin to the experience of having a loved one turned into a flesh-eating zombie. You know that creature staggering and moaning in the next room that looks like your beloved is just a hollow shell, the heart and soul are long since gone, but you still can't bring yourself to look away. If only some merciful soul would come along with a double barrel shotgun and put the show out of its misery.

Seriously, I sat there during the first therapy session scene and said the lines along with the characters, only I did so the way they were originally delivered...and then I broke down and cried a little. If only the main actors had any sense of comic timing...or charisma. Not that they could compare to the originals even if they did, but maybe the experience would've been less painful.

So I have discovered a simple truth, I actually do watch more television with a TiVo than without. I mean I had it record a show on Clara Bow and another on Louise Brooks last night just because I could. On the plus side I did get to see Meerkat Manor at long last and I have to say just one thing, Sean Astin will you please just STFU? Seriously, zip it. All I want to do is watch meerkats being their adorable little selves, I don't need a constant stream of narration. The best nature shows (psst, Animal Planet, please see anything produced for PBS, they know how it's done) don't have a narrator chattering away or trying to make everything very dramatic. They don't need to, the footage itself is dramatic enough. I don't need:

"Will Flower kill the other pups?"
"Uh-oh, I think she's going down there to kill them!"
"Oh no, where are the pups?"
"Oh, wait, there they are, I guess she didn't kill them after all."

Jesus, it's like sitting in a theater with one of those Chatty Cathy types right behind you describing every single event to everyone in hearing range. Maybe I'll just watch it on mute from now on.

Aside from that I did actually manage to get some stuff done last night, though I was delighted to come home to find my dishes done and the recycling taken out. I believe a certain blue-haired fairy is to be thanked for that :) I ended up running a load of laundry, vacuuming and generally tidying up before collapsing for a little computer time. I'm seriously considering getting an iPod adapter/charger for my car, but as I've no cassette system I'll have to get one of the radio tuner ones. Has anyone purchased one in the past? And can you recommend a particular brand if so?

Also made a point of getting to bed on time, which is really helping today. Yay sleep!
