So I have discovered a simple truth, I actually do watch more television with a TiVo than without. I mean I had it record a show on Clara Bow and another on Louise Brooks last night just because I could. On the plus side I did get to see Meerkat Manor at long last and I have to say just one thing, Sean Astin will you please just STFU? Seriously, zip it. All I want to do is watch meerkats being their adorable little selves, I don't need a constant stream of narration. The best nature shows (psst, Animal Planet, please see anything produced for PBS, they know how it's done) don't have a narrator chattering away or trying to make everything very dramatic. They don't need to, the footage itself is dramatic enough. I don't need:

"Will Flower kill the other pups?"
"Uh-oh, I think she's going down there to kill them!"
"Oh no, where are the pups?"
"Oh, wait, there they are, I guess she didn't kill them after all."

Jesus, it's like sitting in a theater with one of those Chatty Cathy types right behind you describing every single event to everyone in hearing range. Maybe I'll just watch it on mute from now on.

Aside from that I did actually manage to get some stuff done last night, though I was delighted to come home to find my dishes done and the recycling taken out. I believe a certain blue-haired fairy is to be thanked for that :) I ended up running a load of laundry, vacuuming and generally tidying up before collapsing for a little computer time. I'm seriously considering getting an iPod adapter/charger for my car, but as I've no cassette system I'll have to get one of the radio tuner ones. Has anyone purchased one in the past? And can you recommend a particular brand if so?

Also made a point of getting to bed on time, which is really helping today. Yay sleep!

Darling? It's a nature show. It's his JOB to talk. And would you say that if it was Elijah talking? ;-)

I know it's a nature show, believe me, but you don't have to talk constantly in one of those to effect the drama of what's happening. Nature is inherently dramatic, and again, the producers are trying to make this like a reality show cast with animals. They actually advertise it like a soap opera cast with little furry, incredibly cute but fucked up people. Just let the animals be animals for crying out loud.

And yeah, I'd bitch even if it were Elijah, though I'd probably be less inclined to mute it ;)

Don't you hate when people give you gifts that then involve you spending more money for gadgets to go with it. ;)

Wish I could offer some advice. For once I'm sort of glad to have a piece o' crap stereo in my car. :)

Well it's not essential to get the car hook-up, but it would be rather cool for long trips.

I agree. And it looks like you can get one for about $40, which isn't ridiculous. The iCarPlay reviews on Amazon seem to be mostly favorable.

[livejournal.com profile] scendan had posted a link to that gallery a while back, but I just caught up with her recent posts today.

I have. I bought the same brand that C-- bought. I think it's called 'iRock', a little unit about half the size of my palm that plugs into an ordinary earphone jack, that I bought at Fry's. It has the option of four FM stations in the 88-89 Mhz range.

I can't remember how much I paid for it, since I bought it 4-5 years ago, but it was worth it when I was using it regularly for my mp3 player.

I bought one of those radio adapters, and in general found it to be a giant pain in the ass. Luckily, I didn't have an iPod and so I was able to just replace the stereo. (I no longer remember the brand or much about it, and can't recall the last time I actually saw the hardware in question. I'll rifle through the car and if I find it I will gift you with it.)

You're very welcome; it's the least I could do, really, for you putting up with me (and my crazy hours of late) every weekend. ^_^ I only wished I could find something else useful to tidy up, but you know best what needs doing, in general.
