Yes my friends, the longest hour and forty minutes of your life plus a few pointless drawings and some animation that we didn't end up using in the actual feature so you know it's got to be worth the price of the DVD.

*sob*

Why must you producers rape my childhood and then slap it on a DVD to mock me with? Why?

Should you wish to see what abomination they've gone with on the cover, click here. Raistlin looks like a spastic, Tanis looks like a greeter at a goddamn Renaissance Faire ("What ho, good pilgrim! Seekest thou fresh ale or a hearty peasant bread?"), and Goldmoon, much as she was in the books, is just kinda there.

At least it's coming out after Xmas so nobody can buy it for me as a gag gift and I won't be forced to then beat them to death with the nearest blunt object after I receive it. So I guess that's something.

[livejournal.com profile] scar_let forwarded me the link to the Dragonlance trailer, and I'm sharing the pain with you:

He commented that it's nice that the Thundarr the Barbarian animators are still getting work, and one of the commenters on the YouTube page summed up my own reaction quite nicely:

The only good animation in this bullshitting trailer is the paramount logo!!

This is truly a mess of epic proportions. At least it's going straight to video, but Jesus...

Huh, more casting for the Dragonlance movie! and check it out:

Michael Rosenbaum .... Tanthalas 'Tanis' Half-Elven (voice)

Kiefer Sutherland .... Raistlin Majere (voice)

Lucy Lawless .... Goldmoon (voice)

Kiefer...oooh, yes he gives very good whispery voice. [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain pointed me there and commented that the writer actually wrote some of the more craptacular episodes of Xena...goodie. And holy crap is the official movie site suck-tastic! I mean wow, despite the fact that they've got some serious voice talent going on here, the rest of this project is looking like a train wreck of epic proportions.

They are going to fuck up my beloved Raistlin...damn them, damn them to hell!

[livejournal.com profile] scar_let sends me this unbelievable quote (unattributed) that has me stunned:

Lucy Lawless

"I just did the voice of an animated cartoon for Paramount, called Dragonlance. Obviously it's a fantasy story, with gods and monsters -- (no lesbian subtext). I never felt I nailed animated performance before, so wanted to get a handle on it. I played a character called "Goldmoon,"...

So Lucy is playing Goldmoon, but the important question is, who the hell has been cast as Raistlin? And who is doing this animated film? Who is involved? Mind you I think she'd make an excellent Goldmoon even in a live action version should they do one. Must. Know. More.

And I swear to god if they screw this up I'm going to be heading for Hollywood with a tank and a baseball bat.
