"Shut your pie hole, old man," sez Jon Stewart to Pat Robertson regarding the whole "Haitians made a pact with the devil so they totally deserve the earthquake" thing. You know Jon has done a lot to keep me sane over the past 8 years and he's the intelligent, witty gift that keeps on giving. Also handsome, did I mention handsome?

Where was I? Ah yes, if you've got enough cash to help out some really good groups to donate to are:

Doctors without Borders

The American Red Cross

OxFam

...amongst many, many more. The pictures and video I've seen from down there are just horrific. Tens of thousands of people dead, a city in rubble, it's just beyond the imagination. As if life there weren't bad enough already.

In other more positive news, on the home front Lola continues to pick random fights with Pye which is freaking him the fuck out. Hachi is managing to balance her destructive/messy tendencies with the innate cuteness that has kept kittens on this plane of existence for thousands of years. She cheerfully destroys the guest room, then runs up to me with the big hazel eyes and mews and purrs and I forgive her in spite of it all. Right now she's laying up against my thigh and randomly attacking the Flash ads on the side of the laptop screen. She's also stepped on several keys making my laptop do odd random things to which I generally reply, "Hey cut that ou-...how did you do that?"

I've discovered that most of the time I end up talking to her in the same beleaguered but entirely too kindly voice with which Luke Skywalker addressed Yoda before he realized who the hell he was talking to. "Don't do that..." I whine ineffectually while she presses on with whatever nutty little thing she's taken it into her head to do.

Tonight [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain and [livejournal.com profile] lizzzie_lou dropped by to return my steam cleaner...only instead of my steam cleaner they gave me a new one because the other one was "dirty". I just smiled and said ok. I just hope they continue to enjoy the benefits of a steam cleaner, I know I will. I'm hoping to bust the new one out this weekend for some work in the living room. I've decided not to even consider the guest room until Miss Hachi finds her new home. I try not to even look in there if I don't have to. It's just better that way.

If Haitians had made a pact with the devil, don't you think they'd have bargained away their souls for something better than a deforested, blasted land with poor soil and aching poverty at the best of times?! UGH. Pat Robertson does NOT speak for me. (In case there was any question at any time EVAR)

Speaking of your steam cleaner...may we borrow it sometime in the next 2-3 weeks? *hopeful look*

Actually I was planning to offer to come over and give you a hand with clean up after I've helped C- with the move out. And yes I was planning to bring the steam cleaner along :)

Woo! :)

We'll have to see what's up...it sounds like C- may not be fully out of the apartment before I leave to fetch Windrose, so it may be giving me a hand without my actual presence. :} But I'm cool with that if you are.

(My plan is to steam clean C-'s room out and hit the carpeting that's exposed at the time C- is out, along with all the furniture pieces W- and I are planning on replacing, and before we start moving furniture back in. Especially the high traffic areas of the LR/DR and the front hall. I moved a box yesterday that has been in the same spot almost since we moved in, and the difference between the carpet under that and the walkway was staggering. :/)

To be honest the process only takes one person and I could probably do it quicker on my own anyway. What I would need, though, is a fan I can place in each room as I clean it in order to facilitate drying. Also do you have a powerful vacuum? If not I've been considering upgrading mine and this might be just the impetus I need to do it.

There will be at least two fans available, possibly three depending on whether or not C- is taking his, so that shouldn't be a problem. And I do have a vacuum, but it might be good for you to swing by and eyeball it to decide if it's powerful enough for what you have in mind. :)

Also: thank you. :) *hug*

So, let me get this straight: Pat Robertson looks at all that terrible death, destruction and human suffering and thinks "my God did this to them... hmm, I wonder why? Musta made a pact with the devil or somethin'" I mean, for fuck's sake, Pat Robertson's God is an alcoholic father on a bender, wreaking havoc and telling everyone he hurts that it's their fault he acts that way?

Thanks for the links. Liz and I were discussing last night what would be the best way for us to give.

And I do so hope you like the cleaner. Let me know how that heater feature works!

On the plus side, I suppose, he didn't blame the gays this time. And I'll be very happy to let you know all about the steam cleaner as soon as I get a chance to try it out. With any luck that'll be tomorrow evening.
BTW I totally spaced and forgot to ask if you needed the newest episode of Being Human last night. If so let me know.

I would LOVE the Being Human ep. But we are working our way through Glee season 1 and we're are overbooked for both this weekend and next, so I'm not in any rush.

Do you need any furniture? We may be getting rid of a few pieces soon. We just got a truckload of stuff from Liz's grandfather's homes and we need to make room for it....

Give me a few days notice when you're ready for BH and I'll plunk everything I've got to that point on a DVD for you. Regarding furniture I don't think I need anything unless you've got any end tables/nightstands you want to get rid of. I'd just do Freecycle if it were me, I even got rid of some extra yarn on there recently.

Depending on what you're getting rid of, Windrose and I -might- be interested. :)

I will get a list out to all possible interested parties as soon as I know what's on the chopping block. :)
