Today is a day of dreary and monotonous testing, so I could use a little distraction. Since pretty much everyone reading this blog is a fellow geek I'd like you all to give me your all time favorite sci-fi quote. Doesn't matter what series or character, and you can only choose one. I'll start:

"I'm not stupid, I'm not expendable, and I'm not going." - Kerr Avon

Right, hit me with yours.

"Lookit the size of that thing!" - Wedge Antilles

Not sure it's my all time favorite, but it's the first thing that popped to mind!

Heh, it should terrify me that I can actually hear the line as it was delivered in my head, though not nearly as clearly as I hear, "But I was going in to Toshi Station to pick up some power converters!"

Mine's goofy

Oh, mine would HAVE to be, "By Grabthar's hammer...what a savings," uttered by Alan Rickman in that droll, dry manner in Galaxy Quest. Or basically, the entire movie. :)

Dammit, guys, now I'm going to need to watch Galaxy Quest when I get home tonight... The moment that always kills me, though, is Fred's happy, "It's the simple things in life you treasure."

I fucking worship Rickman in that role, I actually flashed back to that scene when I saw the bit in OotP where Severus is trying desperately not to say what he really means when Umbridge wants him to confirm that he didn't get the DADA position.

"Here I am, brain the size of a planet and they ask me to take you down to the bridge. Call that job satisfaction? 'Cos I don't." -Marvin

Damn, my brain keeps trying to supply the original BBC Marvin voice and the Alan Rickman version at the same time...it's a rather weird amalgam.

In honor of rewatching the original Star Wars trilogy:

"It's not my fault!" - Hans Solo in The Empire Strikes Back

That one is all in the delivery, as well as the looks of absolute disgust Leia and Chewie level at him in response :)

Han Solo. I always get that wrong.

Now I'm imagining Harrison Ford dancing the polka in little German boy overalls.

That is so not a mental image I needed today...

As a huge polka fan ... I personally find that vision quite rewarding. :)

Although you are implying movie or tv show, my one sci-fi quote I utter most often is "Wheels within wheels, Bendreth" from the F. Paul Wilson novel called, strangely enough, Wheels Within Wheels. ;)

However, more in line with the spirit of your question:
"The truth is usually just an excuse for a lack of imagination." :)

That's a Garak quote unless I miss my guess, yes?

VERY well done!

I'm here safely. Got in at 10pm, exhausted and dehydrated. Saw temps of 118 in the desert!

There are so many lovely quotes from this movie, it's hard to pick just one. But if I must:

"I say nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure." - Ripley, Aliens

From: [identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com
Oh good one, though I do tend to find myself using, "Game over, man, game over!" more often :)

You know I wish I could get the bad taste of the second part of that two-parter out of my mind so I could go back and enjoy part one again. Still, all I have to do is think of, "I like it when you say my name..." and I get chills. Love John Simm so very, very much.

BTW, you've seen his series Life on Mars, right?

A new hope

Excellent choice, and I'm astonished it took this long for anyone to come up with a BB quote :)
