Did you ever have a morning where all you want to do was go around shouting, "Woo!" at everyone you meet? Today is that kind of day. Wow is it ever nice to be able to have some faith in the intelligence and wisdom of my fellow American again. Five long years of waiting for some element of sanity to return has paid off big time. If you haven't already, please go check out some truly beautiful results.

Man oh man it feels good to be alive. Though I have to admit I'm almost tempted to check out some wingnut bloggers' reactions today. Yeah, I know, we're supposed to be above all that smug gloating and all around bad winner type reaction, but I just can't seem to help it. I think five years of having our noses rubbed in the dirt requires at least a little payback. And payback, you know, is one nasty bitch.

Or, as Bullworth so beautifully puts it:

House

Richard Pombo (CA): Buh-bye

J.D. Hayworth (AZ): Buh-bye

Crazy Curt Weldon (PA): Buh-bye

John Sweeney (NY): Buh-bye

Don [Peruvian Mistress Strangler] Sherwood (PA): Buh-bye

Nancy Johnson (CT): Buh-bye

Chris "The Count" Chocola (IN): Buh-bye

John Hostettler (IN): Buh-bye

Jim Ryun (KS): Buh-bye

Ann Northrup (KT): Buh-bye

Melissa Hart (PA): Buh-bye

Senate

Rick "man on dog" Santorum (PA): Buh-bye

Mike DeWine (OH): Buh-bye

Jim Talent (MO): Buh-bye

Conrad Burns (MT): Buh-bye

George "Macaca" Allen (VA): Buh-bye

Lincoln Chaffee (RI): Buh-bye

And let's not forget our governors and various assorted challengers

Robert "Bobby Hairdo" Ehrlich (MD): Buh-bye

Dick DeVos (MI-Amway): Buh-bye

Lynn Swann (PA): Buh-bye

Ken Blackwell (OH): Buh-bye

Jim Nussle (IA): Buh-bye

But not to be outdone, the RudePundit sez:

Anyone in this Bed Got a Cigarette?:
Let's not worry about cleaning the sheets and ourselves just yet. Let's just lay here, sticky, sweaty, exhausted, blissful, and enjoy the way the sun seems a little brighter this morning...

C'mon folks, join me in a little long awaited gloating, you know you want to ;)

And can you believe the Muslim, the Socialist and the African American in Tennessee all pulled off wins? Aside from Lieberman and the Governator I got almost everything I wanted from this election in terms of candidates.

Just wish so many states hadn't let the homophobes to a victory dance today *sigh*

That still utterly stuns me. I just don't understand homophobia. I just don't get it. I get it intellectually in terms of understanding the dynamics of hegemony and all the -isms, the reasons for it, the cultural prevalance against it, the association of it through propoganda with evil, but fundamentally...when you look at another human being for the whole of who they are, how in the world does sexual orientation get in the way? Then again...race, religion, everything else does.. *le sigh* But I will take my candles and light where I can find them...and today, it's having a woman at the gavel for Speaker of the House. :)

Amen to that :)
