ebonlock: (hobbit kid)
I love [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes.

Anyway, sorry to disappear yesterday but when I discovered I couldn't put shoes on without wanting to scream first thing in the morning I decided staying home was a better idea. With my high speed connection working from home really isn't a bad option, though I miss being able to ask questions and get immediate answers. Yes, instant gratification girl strikes again.

Lemme work my way backwards this weekend to explain why I couldn't wear shoes yesterday. Aelf and I went up to [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf's on Sunday to walk a few miles and then get some lunch together. I rather stupidly wore my new sneakers, not realizing that they weren't quite broken in sufficiently for such an endeavor. Suffice to say that by the time I got home I was seriously hurting and limping badly. Peeled my shoes and socks off to see the damage and was a bit horrified. One toe was entirely made up of a blood blister, and the rest weren't doing so hot either. I bandaged them up as best I could and tried to spend the rest of the day off of them but man did they hurt. A long soak that evening and my moisturizing booties seemed to do the trick on parts of them but I finally had to break down and burst the blood blister myself last night. Better under controlled circumstances than, say, at work. The most annoying part is that I can't possibly go to dance class tonight because I was an idiot on Sunday.

On the plus side I was home yesterday for my late DVD shipment (and yes, I got a full refund from Amazon on the shipping plus two apologies from UPS!), turns out the person who was supposed to deliver it on Friday was new and apparently didn't have a clue. My regular driver assured me that he had sufficient brain cells to leave an Amazon package by my door, I thanked him for that. Broke down and watched "Besieged" last night and I am now obsessed with orange pyjamas. If I ever get my Lupin story back off the ground he's going to have a pair. And can I just say David in purple shirts is enough to make my tongue hang out? Wow. And his character, Mr. Kinsky, is so incredibly cool I can't even begin to describe him. Watching him all I could think was, "Whoever did the casting for PoA must have seen this film, 'cause Kinsky is Remus Lupin, no question."

Despite the fact that we had no "Besieged" on Saturday we still managed to entertain ourselves with "Sense & Sensibility", "Gamers" and "X2", all of which we MST'd and giggled over. [livejournal.com profile] ravenmb was every bit as delightful in person as she is online and put up with our group's rampant geekery with great patience and amusement. We gorged ourselves on Amarin Thai (which was substandard this time around but we blamed it on the fact that the restaurant was incredibly busy) did lots of chatting, a bit of crafting, and then watched some Enterprise. Sad that the show's been cancelled just when it started getting somewhat watchable and interesting, but c'est la vie. Here's hoping they spend some time before the next one actually putting some thought into the story and characters rather than just keeping the show going.

And now I should really get to work as I've got a lot of stuff to make up after taking yesterday off.
