I was an industrious little monkey last night and accomplished most (but not all) that I'd set my mind to. [livejournal.com profile] ravenmb, sorry, you'll just have to ride in a messy car on Saturday I'm afraid. But why, you may ask, didn't I finish everything? Simple answer: Comcast On Demand now has the Anime Channel.

God-fucking-damn.

I spent most of the evening going through every show that had a vaguely interesting title (they had a Lady Death cartoon but no way was that anime, that was totally American animation). "Virgin Fleet" was not quite as interesting as I'd hoped, ditto for "Steam Detective", however I did get to catch a little of "Chobits" (just like the manga from what I could tell) and my new favorite show "Descendants of Darkness".

Now the last one became a favorite because the opening credits were all about the pretty boys and I went, "Ooooh!" Of course I was running around doing half a million things so I didn't watch the whole credits, but I got the gist that there were a group of people who were in charge of the afterlife and the two main boys I'm pretty sure had names, but I just called them "Violet Eyes" and "Green Eyes". Now what made me sit down and watch the ep was as I was walking into the kitchen VE turns to GE and purrs, "We could take a shower together and I'll scrub your back...I'll do it nice and slow." At this point I actually walked backwards into the living room and plunked down on the futon never taking my eyes off the screen.

Later on the Pretty Platinum-Haired Boy (PPHB) gets VE in an arm lock, leans over him and coos, "I could just drag you into the bedroom like this." At which point I squeaked, "Oh yes, drag him into the bedroom....just...like...that." I think the ep I saw happens at least midway through the series, so at the end I popped back to the menu to look for more. Damn, it was the only one available this week. *sob* I get the feeling this channel is going to turn quickly from a blessing to a curse, but I'm so loving the On Demand. I can save programs for like 24 hours or more and when I get the DVR option, well let's just say I'm going to stop feeling TiVo inadequate real quick.

I suppose on some level I should feel a bit icky for being so giggly over anime boy sex, but I just can't seem to work up anything close to guilt about it. Oh and I also noticed that Adult Swim's got On Demand features too, including episodes of Space Ghost. Now if they'll just stick some Venture Brothers up I'm going to be doomed, DOOMED!

Hell, better than fine, I'm doing a damn happy dance:
Go New York!

(New York City) A New York State court ruled Friday that same-sex couples must be allowed to marry.

State Supreme Court Justice Doris Ling-Cohan said that the New York State Constitution guarantees basic freedoms to lesbian and gay people, and that those rights are violated when same-sex couples are not allowed to marry.

The ruling said the state Constitution requires same-sex couples to have equal access to marriage, and that the couples represented by Lambda Legal must be given marriage licenses.

"This is a historic ruling that delivers the state Constitution's promise of equality to all New Yorkers," said Susan Sommer, Supervising Attorney at Lambda Legal and the lead attorney on the case.

"The court recognized that unless gay people can marry, they are not being treated equally under the law. Same-sex couples need the protections and security marriage provides, and this ruling says they're entitled to get them the same way straight couples do."

There have been many times in the past few years when I could say I was proud to be a New Yorker, this is definitely one of them. *beams*
