Damn it, I so didn't need to know this. From
anniesj's journal:
MWAHAHAHA! I ordered Divorcing Jack off Amazon this afternoon, because I could not resist its lure any longer! Not after raelala showed me pics of the Black Bikini Briefs of HAWT. I know little about this movie other than it features David Thewlis, an Irish accent, and skimpy underpants. And that is ALL I NEED TO KNOW.
My mantra for today is "I do not need this movie, I am on a budget, I will control myself. I don't have room for it on my DVD shelves anyway." However, if I should find a place I can rent it...
Down, girl.
Anyway, had a nice relaxing weekend. Friday night I met up with
tersa and
silkblade for yummy Chinese and coffee and crafting. It was relaxing and fun, though I got home much later than I'd hoped. Did manage to catch up with J- and we talked until about 1:00 in the morning when I finally said, "I have to go sleep, I have class to get to." Hoping to pass out and maximize what sleep I could get, I flopped into bed only to be awakened no less than 3 times (starting at 4 a.m.) by Pye who was having one of his neurotic nights. Suffice to say that I made it to class but I wasn't happy about it.
I'm glad I went, though, as the workout woke me up and gave me an energy boost. After the others in the class left I stuck around to help Alyne tinker with "Hinko" and we tried out her open butterfly idea. She watched me to do it first and actually said, "Oh you're so graceful, I wish I could make mine look like that." I nearly dropped my veils. She's my standard for grace and excellence with veils and she admires my abilities? Wow. I think I replied with something like, "It's nice that my long ape-like arms do come in handy sometimes" but I can't be sure what I said, I was too much in awe. We both decided that the combo wasn't working pretty quickly, though, and I threw out an idea I've been toying with which she fell in love with. We tried it out together and she said, "That's it, that's perfect" Suffice to say I left feeling very smug indeed.
Ran too many errands to even discuss here, but I accomplished everything I set out to do and got completely caught up. Zoomed home to do laundry and clean the apartment from top to bottom. Everything now looks and smells divine, and I continue to be smug about that too. Afterwards I settled in to watch "De-Lovely" which is a charming little film about Cole Porter. It's a good film with a great soundtrack that I highly recommend to everyone. One of my favorite moments was Cole having trouble getting an actor to sing "Night and Day" properly and someone else commenting, "I told you that we should've given it to Astaire." *giggle*
Watched the end of a great Japanese drama, "Shinsengumi" later that evening and was very pleased by how they wrapped it up. The main hero got beheaded, Aelf's favorite character charged into a gun fight with a sword, and then my favorite (who was suffering from TB) watched his girlie be killed trying to protect him, got his sword and killed all 3 of the guys who'd done it, then coughed up most of his lung tissue and dragged himself painfully back to his futon. His final act was to save a drowning ant from a pool of his own blood. Damn but I wish we could have tv shows like that here in the States, that just rocked.
Still later in the evening I caught an episode of "Venture Brothers" that damn near killed me. Yes, J-, if you're reading this, I finally saw the evil twin one. Oh my god. Please let this series come out on DVD, oh please!
Sunday I spent most of the day with
tersa,
cyranocyrano and
jakejr working on character stuff for 7th Sea. I believe we worked everything out before I had to run off to the library, but I guess I'll find out for sure the next time we game. The library was a dud, everything I wanted wasn't due back until next month and I only had 15 minutes before the place closed so I gave up and went home.
While crocheting I noticed that the new On Demand stuff had some fun options. I started watching "Once Upon a Time in China" while doing some doodling, but it was too hard to draw and read subtitles at the same time so I gave up. I did explore all the On Deman options, though, and discovered there's a Bollywood pay per view channel with 3 current titles running. Sweet! Then watched "The Gay Divorcee" and had to laugh when Fred launched into "Night and Day". He does this one spin in that choreography that made me grown aloud. If I could move that gracefully just once in my life...*sigh*
