Just for you, [livejournal.com profile] jakejr :)

So the surprise party for [livejournal.com profile] phillipalden was a complete success and he was utterly stunned when he walked through the door. I'm very glad [livejournal.com profile] elo_sf has chosen to use his powers for good rather than evil, he's downright scary when he's plotting. Though the 20 minutes or so before the party started turned into something out of a sitcom as he, [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene and I scrambled to get everything to the restaurant before he arrived. I can't even tell you how many times my phone rang that evening. I was trying to focus on driving in unfamiliar territory and Aelf was left with phone duties. I'm stunned that my battery didn't run out before the night was over.

The party itself was wonderful, and my god the food. How many courses was it? Seven? I lost count. Fortunately I was restricted to two of them and a couple of egg rolls. Unfortunately the two I could eat came at the very end. That veggie fried rice was damn fine, and the mushroom and bean sprout dish was cool too. And then there was much pie...mmm, Marie Callender's pies...

The company was wonderful and I can't remember laughing that much at a party in years. Though being brought nearly to tears while trying to simultaneously eat was almost beyond me last night. And what few brain censors I have left to me were shorted out by about 9 pm. I was all smut-brained all the time. That wasn't a totally awful thing as I got to bond with another of the guests I hadn't met before over the works of Sacher-Masoch. Don't ask.

Anyway, had a lovely time, enjoyed meeting all the new folks, got to spend quality time with some of my bestest buds, and helped to pull off a highly successful surprise. Sweet.
