Had a massive allergy attack yesterday for some unknown reason and of course I had no medication on me. By the time I got home a half a box of kleenex had been used and my nose was a bright fire engine red. Gulped down double my usual allergy medication and had some dinner before bullying myself into going to class.

I was afraid the sinus headache or high levels of meds would screw with my balance, but luckily that didn't turn out to be the case. I really had to push myself, though, as I usually just rely on momentum to get me to class. I know that the times I most don't want to go are the times I absolutely need to go. And I always enjoy it and feel much better after class than before.

So we ended up working on the new drum solo which is really fast and a fantastic aerobic workout. Then we switched to the veil portion of the choreography and ended up following S- while she ran it through. She was astonished that we managed to keep up, but, well double veil is our specialty and we've been following Alyne's lead and one anothers' for quite a while now. The elements were all familiar and not terribly difficult. The tricky bit will be learning timing and, for me at least, figuring out musical cues. Luckily this piece has a lot of them.

Alyne also announced that she's starting a troupe. If she wants me I am so there. And I may poke (gently) for Aelf to consider it seriously. Being in a troupe and having definite performances is a great way to really focus and stay on track dancing-wise.

In other news, unless my scale is lying (which is entirely possible, I must get a better one after the holidays) I've lost two pounds so far. Water weight, I'm sure, but the flab doesn't seem so very pronounced as it was around my middle. And I can see some muscle tone there again, which is nice. I've decided every night I either dance or do as many crunches as I can take, with one night per week I can take off and slack. I think that's fair.

Between the new class choreographies and my own solo piece, though, I'm inspired to really get back to dancing at least 4 hours a week. It's going to be difficult with all the crafting I need to do, but not impossible. Discipline may be my keyword for 2004, as pragmatism has been or 2003. There are worse goals to have for a year I think.
