Men? Men are weak!
Aug. 13th, 2002 08:53 amAnd anyone at Chez Femme II last night is disqualified from this particular game of Guess the Quote, sorry.
I may be running on very little sleep, with only sugar and caffeine to work its magic on my system, but I am loving life today. There is nothing better (as far as I'm concerned) than a roomful of people sitting around and having an animated discussion on a variety of fascinating topics. Well, ok, perhaps having Vin Diesel lick freshly melted Andes chocolate mints off of your inner thighs...and maybe comforting a wounded, traumatized, innocent young hobbit with the Doom of the World hanging around his neck...but aside from that, it's good conversation with friends all the way.
I'm a Gemini, we communicate, it's our nature. I love exchanging ideas with people whose opinions I admire and enjoy. Note that I didn't say "agree with", sure it's nice to have common ground but if all you do is talk to folks who look at the world in exactly the same way you do it seems to me you're missing quite a bit. I like hearing ideas and opinions that differ from mine, as long as they're intelligent, well considered, and offered respectfully. It's the people who feel the need to bludgeon others with their variety of "the Truth" that get under my skin. It shows a complete lack of respect, just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they're wrong, simply that their perspective and yours don't mesh completely.
Of course I tend to believe that pretty much everything is subjective and that total objectivity is completely impossible to achieve, but that's me.
But on to less weighty topics. Had a lovely evening with the family,
aelfsciene, and
cyranocyrano. Grabbed my sister's Param Tofu from her favorite Thai place along with some very yummy mango and sticky rice, and then took her out for Jamba as is our tradition. We then played out in the backyard for a bit and got the cat to venture a few feet out of the house (briefly). I got to show off all my plants which seem to be thriving. The strawberries are actually going to produce again this year, I can't believe it. I've got three blooms on one plant and about as many started on the other, this is just astonishing. And the blackberries are blooming as well, this just boggles my mind, but maybe the heatwave recently has confused the plants a bit. Works for me.
Speaking of the plants, does anybody need fresh basil, lemon thyme or rosemary? I'm quite literally up to my elbows in it and I just don't cook with it enough to keep the plants in check. Particularly the rosemary shrub. It's insane. And if anybody has any good herbed bread recipes please send them my way, and hurry, before the rosemary engulfs the backyard, the house, and quite possibly the neighborhood. Also if anybody could make use of some little basil plants I'm happy to start some cuttings for you. I'm considering buying some oregano, but may talk myself into getting a good Italian cookbook before I do. I am determined, however, to have one of the best smelling backyards ever.
Ok, must focus on work today despite the very real desire to join my family in playing on the beach at Santa Cruz *sigh*. Ah well, dinner at Frankie, Johnny and Luigi's tonight, woo-hoo!
Crunches: Ack, no time, I'll start again tomorrow night.
Days of family's time out here remaining: 1
