It's funny how little things in life can really make a big change in your perspective and mood. I was really in the dumps yesterday until a series of very positive events occurred. One, I was sensible enough to realize I wasn't going to be of any use in class so I opted to skip. Smart. Two, got some lovely compliments on the performance Saturday that made me smile. Three, I got out of FREAKING ARI'S ROCK IN GOLDEN SUN 2!!!! I know this doesn't mean much to most folks but I've been wandering around the same cave system for a couple of weeks now in this game and it was driving me bugfuck. Somehow last night I managed to find the final door I'd somehow missed and got the reveal psynergy so I could leave. Glory hallelujah!
And number four, I sat Aelf down and inflicted the movie "Xanadu" on her. I don't know what it is about this flick that always makes me happy, but it worked its magic once more last evening and I ended the day in a very good mood indeed. Aelf decided that at some point we need to throw a Xanadu themed party at our place. Personally I'm wondering how we could ever hope to replicate the neon tackiness of that 1980 musical, but I'm game to try.
BTW,
technocowboy, you must wear this if we pull it off:

Aelf threatened me with bodily harm if I suggested it, but it'd be worth a few bruises to see you pull that one off };)

(Besides, I know *exactly* what you mean. :)
Except, I phear a "Xanadu" party. Like I phear SARS.

Date: 2003-06-03 11:27 am (UTC)We so must have this party, though. We'd been talking about a Tiki or maybe Indian/Thai theme, putting Xanadu off till next year, but I dunno, now.
I'm cycling between "Xanadu" and "I Left My Hat in Haiti" stuck in my head now, it's very disconcerting.

Date: 2003-06-04 10:32 am (UTC)Wanted to tell you though, if you don't already know, that Sarah Brightman has a new album called "Harem" out. Here's part of the review: "Theater vet Brightman steps into that pan-cultural hall of mirrors here, wedding her fascination with the music and rhythms of the "forbidden places" (the title's Arabic meaning) of the Middle East to her own oft ethereal vocal charms and rock-solid sense of drama"
This made me think that there's potential for bellydance music on this CD, though I haven't heard it yet. I'm going to go buy it today. :)

I tried to listen to those and my computer said, "Nein!" Stupid computer. If it's up on Amazon I may go preorder it. I love her stuff anyway so I know I'll like this, and if it has a middle eastern flavor I'll *love* it. Thanks for the head's up!
