ebonlock: (Thane)

Not sure if I remembered to post this here, and I blame [livejournal.com profile] tersa entirely for this, but I actually broke down and made an utterly ridiculously sappy mix for my beloved Thane. God Mass Effect has eaten my soul! Well, ME2 anyway, ME1 is fine but there's no Thane, and ME3...well, it ain't gonna' be a happy ending, I know that much.

Anyway, "Don't Forget to Breathe" is my homage to my ME2 romance, Thane "Motherfuckin' Snakes on a Ship" Krios:

"I hear you calling to me
See you but you can't see me
We never said our goodbyes
So dark and lonely your eyes
You'll always be in my heart
There is no death to us part"

Don't Forget to Breathe...a Thane Krios Mix from ebonlock on 8tracks.

*And yes, the icon is my Maggie Shepard snuggling with her ninja because this game has turned me into a 14 year old girl.

It makes me giddily happy that you're this into Mass Effect, because it means I can share it with you. :)

You do realize comments like that will just make us ignore your opinion on it, right? :)

I submit that a) observations of fact are not opinion and b) did my opinion factor into it before I made this observation?

Of course this comes from a man who used to go on at length regarding the crafting/farming achievements of his hobbits. The "dork" label is therefore taken with a rather large grain of salt.

And a good dose of irony. Besides, the Hobbit wasn't my Farmer, he was my Cook and Jeweler. The Woman and Elf were my Farmers.

[personal profile] tersa pointed me this way, and I just wanted to squee a bit with you, for hearting Thane, and helping tersa to experience him through you. <3

TY!

And hee, the "dorks" comment above me makes me LOL. I'm proud to be a dork, for sure.

OMG hearting him is such an understatement, I am seriously nutty for the guy. Can't imagine why anyone would romance anyone else in the game really. Even though I know it's all going to end in pain and sobbing (tersa is promising to have tissues handy) I'll stay true to him.

Also is it just me or did you get mildly offended every time you talked to him you were offered the option of breaking his heart and then stomping it into the ground with the "Sorry, I can't date someone with a terminal illness" dialogue option?

And if you know of any good fic with him I'm totally open to links (I have some of my own to share if you're interested!) :D

OMG, yes, it irks me SOOO bad that dumping him seems to be the paragon thing to do. "I can't replace your wife." Well, no, shit. I wasn't trying to.

Oh, yes, please, I'd love to read your stuff (might take me a day or two, since I'm on my way out the door, and weekends are nuts). I don't really have anything that I can link you to that's good, but I'll be sure to let you know if I do bump into something later.

I've been working on something bigger, myself, something that takes place during ME3 that's more in line with what I thought should have happened, but I have written 2 teeny-tiny things to help me work through my own EMOTIONS.

You might need to hold off on them, now that I think about it, until you've gotten through ME3, but here they are, anyway:

I watched what would happen if you chose that on YouTube because there was no way my Maggie would ever be so heartless. I'm trying to rationalize why she was insensitive enough to hit on him right after he told her about his dead wife, but that's a whole different problem. I tell myself that Maggie is roughly as tactful as a bull in a china shop most of the time :)

I'll rec some stuff at the end of this comment, in the meantime you broke me with your pieces. Broke me. [livejournal.com profile] tersa has to put up with me whining incessantly about the beginning of ME3, "What do you mean six months sitting in a cell while my boyfriend is dying!?" Because, seriously, just no.

Some of my favorites:
Slipping (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7969381/1/Slipping): In his final days, Thane slips into memories of his last love. *Seems to be a WIP so if you avoid those be warned.

The ThirtySix Stratagems of Wáng Jìngzé (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6591642/1/The_ThirtySix_Stratagems_of_Wang_Jingze) - this is how ME3 should have gone down, IMHO, and is my head canon for the final game *Note it's wicked long but hey you get a happy ending for Shep/Thane so worth it!

Things We Lost in the War (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7939345/1/Things_We_Lost_in_the_War): She loves a man whose skin is poison. AKA: perhaps you also played through ME3 and felt something was missing? This is for you. Spoilers to the end.

There are many more including some very fun smut but these are the ones I'd start with :)

Holy cow. I, um, don't recommend trying to read that last one when you've had a bit to drink. I tried over the weekend, and all it did was confuse me. XD

But yes, so going to go read all of that, thank you. And keep them coming, please. I'm going to make an effort to do as much reading and writing as I can this summer.

I, uh, bumped into this fanvid over the weekend (and I can't tell you how happy I am to have somebody to share it with, now ♥).

OMG that video was *AWESOME*! Seriously, I hadn't even seen some of those scenes before. Wow. I already mentioned to [livejournal.com profile] tersa that I'd been thinking of doing a dancing compilation one to the song "Just Can't Shake It" as Shepard appears to be the worst dancer in the universe but now I kinda want to do a Thane one...

BTW have you seen this one:

Also some more fic recs:

Abstracted (http://archiveofourown.org/works/342618) - All things must eventually go to the sea, and some kisses are bitter with the taste of goodbye.

Synesthesia (http://archiveofourown.org/works/262573) - “So you’re boning the drell, right?” Shepard nearly spews her drink across the mess hall.

The Destroyer (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6347321/1/The_Destroyer) - All her life Shepard has been driven to kill and destroy, it is all she knows. Everything she has ever touched has turned to dust. Now with the collectors dead and the reapers on their way she needs to find another way or everyone will pay the price. (really interesting take on Shepard in particular here).

How Fornax Change My Life (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5775972/1/How_Fornax_Changed_My_Life) - Shepard comes to grips with the realities of a romantic relationship with a member of her team. Fornax serves double duty as a relationship aid, though not always in the obvious sense.

You know, you could make both a dancing vid and a Thane one. :) That sounds like an awesome plan to me.

Aww, that vid is so sad (especially that "Save Thane in ME3" at the end).

And thanks for more recommendations. I've got some reading to do. <3

Wanted to quickly pop back in here and let you know that I'm currently making my way through 'The ThirtySix Stratagems of Wáng Jìngzé' (slow reading J is reading very slowly).

Reading fanfic is by far the best thing for kicking my writer's muse in the ass, so hopefully I'll make some headway soonish on what I've got plotted (so many ideas, woo). Although... the desire to write Thanesmut might quickly overcome anything reasonable else.

Hope you're enjoying your summer (and had a fantastic birthday)! <3

Let me know when you get to the end of that long fic, I'd love to compare notes on your reaction to it. Also I am strongly in favor of Thanesmut, anything I can do to encourage it I will. Indeed I'm kind of thinking of doing another Thane mix with a smutty flavor tentatively titled "Go Lick a Drell" :)

BTW, [livejournal.com profile] tersa and I made it to Thane at the citadel hospital Friday night and our reunion was lovely but all too brief. Where is the option where you tranq him, carry him back to the Normandy and chain him to your bed for the remainder of the game, that's what I want to know.

Eesh, I know. I feel like, "you guys? My game's broken. Thane kept telling me over and over in ME2 that 'Time for me is short, Siha. But any that I have is yours to take' but now he won't come, and he says that Shep re-awakened him, and that he no longer wants to die, but now he's all "I've accepted my death" and "don't mourn for me" again. Halp! What do I do?"

Seriously, though? The long fic I've got plotted (the one I keep referring to) starts at just that moment. Only this time, the world makes more sense, and Thane actually comes.

You can't come with me because you want to sit in a chair and stare out a window? Seriously? You can do all that on my ship. GET OVER HERE.

I'll definitely head back in here when I've finished reading. <3
I also, maybe, might have written a huge chunk of Thanesmut whilst I was drunk saturday night. I need to start drinking less. Or more, IDK.

Jesus yes, that just makes no sense at all. Honey, we've got windows on the Normandy, you can sit by one all day long if you want. And if you need something to do here are some tasks that should be totally ok for you:

1. Talking
2. Occasional sexy times (depending upon how he's feeling of course)
3. Feeding my fish/space hamster
4. Sitting on my couch looking decorative

Also I just hired Chakwas who will happily give you whatever treatments you need. Now get your scaly ass on my bed.

Seriously, though? The long fic I've got plotted (the one I keep referring to) starts at just that moment. Only this time, the world makes more sense, and Thane actually comes.

Because Thane coming along is the only thing that possibly makes sense!!!

I'll definitely head back in here when I've finished reading. <3
