Very briefly before the little ones show up for treats I wanted to post that I just devoured "The Hunger Games" in basically one afternoon. It was that good. Seriously, I've openly bawled twice when reading a novel, the first time when I finished "White Gold Wielder" the first time ("My heart has rooms that sigh with dust..." is still enough to set me off) and a second time about halfway through the first book of this series. Where the author's going to go from here is a mystery to me but I am to find out.

Have you actually had anyone stop by by the time of this comment (7:50 about 1:15 after you posted)? I've had the light on since 5:30, and de nada.

(ETA): And still none by 9:55. :P FEH.

THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, I love that book SO MUCH. The first book is still by far the best, but the rest of the series is well worth the read.

Huh, LJ apparently decided I didn't need to be notified that I had comments on this post :( Anyway, I just added the next two books to my cart on Amazon because I must know what happens. Wouldn't surprise me if Katniss leads an all out rebellion and leads her people to freedom.

God what I would've done for a heroine like her when I was growing up...

I absolutely adore this series. I look at it much like the Star Wars original series. The second book is just as phenomenal as the first. The third is a good ending, but left me wanting more, More, MORE!!! I think I probably know the place where you started bawling because it's probably the same place that I did.

Where else would one lose it except over little Rue? OMG, I had to stop reading because I just couldn't see through the tears. And I want to be Katniss when I grow up.

These are on my pile of next to read books, have you heard of this book called The Replacement by Brenna Yovanoff? It is really good, another young adult read (my favorite genre to buy for other than graphic novels). Also the Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan is really quite gripping. If you haven't picked up the Guillermo Del Toro vampire books The Strain and The Fall you should check them out too...really good reads!!

I just started The Strain and it's odd to read it after The Hunger Games because they're so different. Where THG was almost spartan in its prose TS is almost too flowery for me. I keep wanting to yell at the book, "Oh just get on with it!" I mean we're what 6 chapters in and have barely gotten a look at what happened on the plane. Gah, yes, it's very spooky, now move the plot forward already.
I'll add the others you mentioned to my wishlist on Amazon to pick up, they sound very interesting.
