Direct quote from Aelf last night as we went through our choreography for about the third or fourth time. Eyes wide she stood by the stereo and pronounced, "We've got no trapdoors in this routine at all, if we screw up any part of it we can have a critical failure. We're mad, I tell you, mad!"

Well yes, but what else is new?

Sorry to blather on about dance, but the performance/choreography is my life this week and even when I'm not dancing (so far, that means Saturday this past week, only), I'm thinking about dancing. I don't think being obsessed (short-term) with this number is a bad thing and I love what it's doing for my body. I'm sleeker and stronger than I've been in years. But the big thing is that I'm not fretting about those flabby bits any more. As long as I've got the muscle there underneath I'm cool with them.

And hoo-boy have I got some muscles goin' on.

It helped to lend a hand Saturday on the great Stately Wayne Manor move, and then to assist [livejournal.com profile] mallen with a few of his things as well. We finished in good time and I bowed low before the manliness of the gents who got that entertainment center up the stairs. We joked about [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano's bed being "The Beast", but it had nothing on that wooden monstrosity. Then we had the most delicious Thai lunch I've ever tasted on [livejournal.com profile] tersa, and I was relieved the restaurant was all the way up in PA, if it were closer I'd be far too tempted to eat there more often. *drool*

Dragged [livejournal.com profile] jakejr back to Chez Femme II for videos and Milano cookies, and after a shower I felt much better. Weirdly enough at some point during the move I managed to burst the cyst in my right wrist. It was a little scary at first as my wrist was swollen to about 3 times its normal size on that side. But I wrapped it immediately upon getting home and babied it all weekend long. I'm still not ready to put any weight on it, but it seems to be functioning mostly normal at this point. Ultimately I suppose it beats dropping a heavy book on it.

Sunday was pretty relaxing and I got to see Matrix: Reloaded. I could rant about this film, easily too, but suffice to say that it was two hours of my life I'd very much like back. I'll probably see Revolution just to see how the whole thing is resolved, but my expectations for the film will be very, very low. I know I'm one of the few people on this planet who thought the original film was just OK, but jeez what a mess this sequel was.

Also had some time to work on my solo Sunday night and played around with some effects I'd like to work in. Aelf seemed to approve so I'm taking that as a good sign.

Monday I puttered a bit and continued to baby my wrist in the hopes that it'd be ok for work today (and the performance this weekend). Seems to be so far. Watched some episodes of D&D the animated series and baked some orange cranberry bread (yum!). Then finally got to meet L- face to face for a tasty sushi dinner and nice conversation. He gifted me with three little plastic lizards for Kage to play with. Had to decline coffee as I'd promised to run the choreography some more, but definitely took a raincheck on that.

I presented the lizards to Kage who promptly ignored them. We're going to try to rig them to move at some point and see if that changes anything. Of course later that evening she found a rubberband and it was the greatest toy ever invented. *sigh*

Got some more good dancing in and then watched Trading Spaces. We couldn't help ourselves, it was three trainwreck episodes. You know, rooms so bad you actually wince and moan, "Oh those poor people." as you watch. Of course if it involves Doug, Hildi, or Kia...well, what would you expect? Aelf and I decided we should collect the worst rooms ever and have a TS party at our place. MST3King the show is just way too much fun.

Watch her carefully while she plays with it; lots of cats eat rubberbands and they can cause intestinal blockage and other problems that result in very sick kitty.

She played with it for a bit and then laid down next to it and fell asleep, at which point I plucked it up and put it in a drawer. I know how she is about ribbon, I can only imagine what she'd do with a rubber band....
