First and foremost, the teaser sequence with a bunch of rush cuts of House very clearly lost in the depths of despair and considering falling off the wagon had me absolutely enrapt from the get go. The scene of House doing triage at the collapsed building just sealed the deal.

The scene between him and Wilson as the latter works on a patient and they gossip about Cuddy, House crawling into the wreckage because he's sure he heard someone down there and of course finding that someone pinned by the leg, and of course all the while he's doing a long distance differential on the crane operator who caused the accident in the first place, and of course House declaring that nobody's amputating the woman's leg to get her out of the building.

Annnnddd of course the victim only wants House and will have a massive panic attack without him. "I'm sorry I needed you." God if there was ever a phrase guaranteed to get House to do what you want it's that one.

"That was stupid of me." - House
"It was nice." - Hanna
"I don't see that as a contradiction." - House

Watching House slowly warm to Hanna as they spend more time together and his nascent bedside manner grinds to life. Though the collapse of the building was heart wrenching.

The Cuddy/House showdown was vicious: "You're going to risk her life just to save her leg? That's worked out really well for you, hasn't it?" Cuddy trying to turn this whole thing into some sort of personal issue, which it partially is, was really tough to hear. But lord that scene where he convinces her to let them amputate because he wishes he had as what he's left with has ruined his life and left him alone...

Ok there have been times on this show where I've just wanted to take House home and hug him, but in this episode I want to fucking marry him. House has finally grown up, but will it stick or will he turn back to the drugs? My thought is no, he'll toy with the thought but he won't actually do it and what's this going to mean for the character next season? God knows...but I'm sure as hell going to be there to find out.

House completing the diagnosis on the crane operator was a thing of beauty, but then to see Hanna go from a fat embolism caused by the amputation...good god. He did everything right and she still died, and of course this puts him in a tailspin. His leg is killing him and he's heading for his apartment...oh so not good. And damn, now 13's health is going downhill and she's left him a note asking for time off, damn, damn.

Secret pill stash behind the mirror, oh House don't do it, please don't do it...

Cuddy's there? And she broke up with Lucas?! She loves him? Jesus is he hallucinating again? That would be so not cool in so very many ways. And House wonders the same thing, bless him.

Oh I am not so sure about this direction. I'm going to have to process this.

Ok I've thought about this and I am so many kinds of not ok with her stringing Lucas along for an entire season and agreeing to marry the man only to dump him for House. Also House as Joy's daddy? That's just wrong.
