Quick update:

First the car is once again functional. I showed up at the dealer at 7:40 a.m. and insisted with a smile that I was happy to wait, thank you very much. The service guy gave me the usual "But it's going to take hours to fix this!" spiel to which I smiled even more brightly and replied, "I have a book."

Total time at the dealer - half an hour.

Second the drum solo we've been putting together for months has finally meshed into an actual, danceable piece. We're going to video record it and take a long look to see what still needs tweaking, but for the most part I think we're done.

Third I seem to have gotten into a groove with the cats and while it's still pretty time consuming caring for 4, it's become something of a routine now. I also managed to get a litterbox with a litter shield that attaches to it for Hachi to keep her from throwing litter everywhere...which seems to be one of her hobbies. Now if I can just get her to stop dumping her water every night we'll be making some serious headway. Still, for a feral cat who couldn't be handled just a few weeks ago she's come a long way. She's now attempting to steal my necklace while I'm wearing it and make off with buttons.

Fourth new Criminal Minds tonight and Johnathan Frakes is the guest star, woot!

I met him at a con many years ago, he was one of the few actors who showed up early and actually hung out with the fans. He loved cruising the dealers' room and just talking to people. I remember him making a crack about one of the dealers giving away Riker figures free with every purchase :)

Isn't he directing eps of Leverage on the regular, too? I fully expect, having had Wheaton and Spiner on there already, that Sir Stewart will show up eventually as Sophie's long-lost father or something...

Yeah Frakes has been working almost exclusively behind the camera for years now. It's always nice to see him out front, though. And oddly enough Criminal Minds also had Wil Wheaton on as a guest star a little while back.

Glad the car is going well. Will the "gang" be back for Being Human Episode 2? I figure showing up closer to 5 is better, though I'm happy to have company earlier.

I'm certainly planning to be there and I suspect the others are as well though I'll confirm. Five sounds fine with me, I'm going out to lunch at two so it should work nicely. Also consider joining the Being Human fan group, stuff gets posted there pretty quickly if you know what I mean...

This is the miracle of the iPhone. Pharmacy, grocery shopping, auto service, doesn't matter - as long as it's not in a church or a theater, I can wait out ANYTHING.

That's the thing about service departments, they want you to leave your car there so they can get to when it they want to. Doesn't matter if you're inconvenienced or that you'll have to shell out cash for a rental in the meantime. Fortunately I've got the power of patience on my side, which foils them every time :)
