Apr. 11th, 2009 04:32 pmFor those of you who haven't seen the "Gathering Storm" commercial (i.e. ZOMG the gays are coming! The gays are coming!) I present you with the fixed version via Sadly, No:
Also, which is the most embarrassing thing said by an elected official recently:
1) Bachus says there's 17 'socialists' in House
Rep. Spencer Bachus, the top Republican on the Financial Services Committee, told a hometown crowd in Alabama today he believes there are several socialists in the House.
Actually, he says there are exactly 17 socialists in the House of Representatives.....
2) A North Texas legislator during House testimony on voter identification legislation said Asian-descent voters should adopt names that are "easier for Americans to deal with."
... state Rep. Betty Brown, R-Terrell ... suggested that Asian-Americans should find a way to make their names more accessible.
"Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese -- I understand it's a rather difficult language -- do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?" Brown said.
Brown later told Ko: "Can't you see that this is something that would make it a lot easier for you and the people who are poll workers if you could adopt a name just for identification purposes that’s easier for Americans to deal with?" ...
I think I've gotta' go with Betty, myself but I like Spencer's nod to classic McCarthy-ism. It's a nice touch. Though for sheer unadulterated, brain melting dumb I think Betty's got him beat.

2M4M
I almost drove into a pole when I heard that. Or would have, if I'd been in a car.
