A couple of things. First my resolution for 2009 is to treat myself with the same kindness and consideration I usually reserve for my friends. To that end I'm treating myself to fun little gifts, nice experiences, and the occasional random day off just because. Today is one of the latter. I'm taking an honest to god personal day just to be, not because I'm sick or I have millions of things to do, but because I woke up tired and thought, "Gosh, wouldn't it be nice to go back to bed for a few hours?" It was, actually.
It's rather nice having a job where I can do this without instigating Armageddon.
The other thing I wanted to mention is that I realized why "Being Human" was working for me on so many levels. One reason is that the relationship between Mitchell and George reminds me a lot of John Sheppard and Rodney McKay from SGA. It's not identical by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn't hurt that Mitchell was a military man before he was turned and that George's social skills verge on the autistic sometimes.
The other thing that's working for me in a big way is the whole idea of three close friends living together as a family. It's...well it's something I've always wanted in my own life. I've known for most of my life that I wasn't cut out for romance, but I can be a damn good friend and a great sister. The idea of taking care of my best friends, and they me, creating a home and a family with them...well it's always sounded about as close to heaven as I could conceive of.

Date: 2009-02-02 09:19 pm (UTC)This sounds heavenly to me, too ... I remember how we all used to talk about just this sort of thing, back in college ... I looked forward to it happening someday. I always considered all you guys family, much more so than my actual relatives, and I would do anything for family.
*reminiscing sigh*
I hope and pray that someday you have this, if you don't already have some variety of it. Heck, I hope and pray that we all have this someday.
