Oh yeah, baby. I knew as soon as I heard M. Night was getting his grubby paws on Avatar, and then referred to it as his Star Wars, that we were going to have an atrocity of epic proportions. Some folks wanted to give him a chance, to adopt a wait and see attitude, but not me. No, I stubbornly held onto my cynicism because I knew deep down in my soul that yet again I was going to be proven right.

Check out the casting for the film. Notice something? It's like they were making this back in the goddamn 1930's, isn't it? You know, back when it was normal to cast white people as Asians. Seriously, I don't think you could make this cast any more painfully white if you actively tried.

Also, one of the kids from Twilight as Sokka...and JESSE MCCARTNEY as Zuko? OMG...

I wish I could be surprised about this, I really do.

This movie can still be saved. All the filmmakers need to do is 1) change the names of all the characters, 2) change the setting to a pan-European world, 3) change the story by eliminating the Asian-influenced philosophy, 4) change the title, and 5) eliminate the martial arts. There you go, Paramount! This is a movie you can feel comfortable about selling to "middle America."
