Somebody please tell me you saw tonight's House 'cause I seriously need to discuss the latest ep.

Also gave Fringe another try and it continues to both suck and blow simultaneously. I want to like it 'cause Captain Hottie from The Wire is on it and good lord that man is a treat to the eyes. I mean they just don't come much prettier. But even fond memories of him in his skivvies on The Wire cannot make me want to tune into this show. It just make my brain ache every time I watch it, it really does.

Yup, just saw it. Dude, WTF Wilson? Of all people, you'd think he'd be the one who thought House/Cuddy was a terrible idea...

I haven't seen Fringe, but the ads make it look terrible. Glad to know I'm not missing anything.

I'm guessing Wilson just wants him to be with someone and if it's Cuddy then so be it. But yeah he should totally be waving a big red flag. I didn't like the fake out bit where he professes an interest in Cuddy himself, it just seemed unnecessary. And I thought the whole mosquito bite thing was handled less elegantly than it could have been. I just saw the ep where House is unconsciously jealous of his patient because he once made out with Cuddy and it manifests as an inability to pee. Now that was subtle and well played.

I only ever watch it because of inertia, too damn lazy to change the channel after House.

Yeah, the writing in general was just clumsy. It had all the usual House tropes, but done in a really substandard way. The mosquito thing made no sense at all. Wilson's meddling was even less coherent than usual. And yeah, the fake-out thing was stupid. Sometimes I wonder how those three people can spend so much time analyzing each other's motivations and still, you know, do their jobs.

OMG yes, though I do love what a psychological goldmine House is. The physical manifestations of his psyche (though exaggerated) generally fascinate me. I really should start paying more attention to the writing credits, though, as I'd like to know what I'm in for from week to week. The episodes I've loved ("Detox", "Three Stories", "Alone", etc.) have definitely earned the show a pass even when they give me less than what I want on a weekly basis.

It is disappointing, though, when the writers get lazy like that. But even at its worst the show is consistently better than almost anything else out there right now.

what do you want to discuss?

Also Fringe... I WANT to like this show. Really, I do. Sigh.

Mostly the House/Cuddy relationship the show seems to want to throw at us. Do you think it'll happen and if so just how spectacularly do you think it'll melt down?

I liked elements of last night's ep, particularly the bit where House was going off on the agoraphobe about his cowardice all the time realizing on some level that he was really talking about himself. I also liked that House got as far as Cuddy's door before retreating again.

I think if everyone is announcing how it is going to melt down, it would be bad form for them to have a relationship start up and then melt down.

We thought, especially judging from his expression as Cuddy walked out of the room, that maybe Wilson was actually hoping Cuddy would want to get together with him, but saw the conversation as a win-win if he could convince her and House to give it a whirl. The thing is, that dude is an idealist if ever there was one, so he may really, seriously think that the two of them getting together might do them both some good.

We, too, liked that House's speech to the patient was an inspiration to all who heard it, including House.
