I may need to stop watching Heroes. Any show that makes me scream, "OMG, you MORON!" repeatedly in the space of a single hour may not be something I need to subject myself to week after week. At the very least it can't be good for my blood pressure. I'd like to ask those reading this blog who have seen the episode to let me know which character you felt acted the most mentally challenged. So who do you think rides the short bus this week:
1. Suresh (He may win for the entire season at this rate)
2. Hiro (Yeah I know, but god he was dumb)
3. Nathan/Tracy (I'm lumping them together as a unit for the time being)
4. Peter (He's giving Suresh a run for his money)
5. Claire/Mom1/Mom2 (They seem aggressively determined to prove the "dumb blonde" stereotype)
6. Nominate your own mental defective if I've forgotten someone.
Bah, I say, and bah again!
In other news I seriously freaked myself out watching the "Son of Coma Guy" episode from season 3 of House. The bit where House discusses his take on the concept of unconditional love specifically. I have actually had that conversation with at least two people in the past couple of years and I've said almost exactly what House said in the episode. This isn't the first time I've spoken his next lines before the actor did, but this was the first time I'd naturally used the very same dialog in my own life. I've never seen myself quite so clearly in a character as I do in him and I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Date: 2008-10-21 02:40 pm (UTC)As for unconditional love, like House, I don't believe it exists. In my opinion there are always conditions, and rightly so.

There is no-one dumber than Peter though.
I don't remember the specifics of the conversation in House to which you are referring. But we've been watching a lot of House lately. And I have to say, while I liked Son of Coma Man, in general I think I may have ODed on the show. House is darkly humorous, but fundamentally unlikeable as a person.

I dunno', Suresh has really been trying to win this season. Between his "I'll inject myself with this mystery serum. What could possibly go wrong? Why no, I haven't seen the film version of 'The Fly', why do you ask?" and this week's, "I'll just hold hands with my prisoner who demonstrated not ten minutes earlier that she can FREEZE THINGS THAT SHE TOUCHES."

Now see that's where we would differ, while I'd agree that he's often an unrepentant ass, his intense desire to do what is right (though by no means what is "good") combined with his all too real vulnerabilities make him intensely appealing to me. Maybe I just identify with him a little more than I should, but I can't stay mad at the guy...even when he does things I might find morally reprehensible (the Joel Grey episode still makes me wince). But I love how flawed he is, and the fact that I adore him not only despite those flaws, but in many ways because of them.
