I am shocked, shocked to find gambling going on in this establishment!

Financial workers at Wall Street’s top banks are to receive pay deals worth more than $70bn (£40bn), a substantial proportion of which is expected to be paid in discretionary bonuses, for their work so far this year - despite plunging the global financial system into its worst crisis since the 1929 stock market crash, the Guardian has learned.

Staff at six banks including Goldman Sachs and Citigroup are in line to pick up the payouts despite being the beneficiaries of a $700bn bail-out from the US government that has already prompted criticism. The government’s cash has been poured in on the condition that excessive executive pay would be curbed.

They've *earned* those bonuses! Just imagine the state we'd be in if those brave and clever men and women hadn't been on the front line in those offices! Risking their lives for capitalism, and all the good it brings us!

I am just disgusted on *so* many levels. How can this be justified in a world where many people in this same country are either, homeless, uninsured or have to make the devestating choice between feeding thier family and paying thier rent??? *Noone* needs to make or have that much money. It makes me sick.

When I read about this my blood stated to boil.

Giving 70Bn to the very assholes who caused this mess is inexcusable.
