I'm not surprised that they're doing something so shitty, but I *am* surprised that they're being so blatant about it. And really, I shouldn't be. That's just fucked up.
this is awesome. Normally I would expect the Ds to pull about 60%, but I'm willing to go down to 55 just to have the GOP put its cards on the table once and for all: 40 years as the party of the Confederacy. Just give them the beatdown this year - with a black Yankee at that, not some good ol' boy they can grudgingly accept just because he's got barbecue sauce on his chin - and we can get back to being the USA instead of having our country in thrall to a bunch of pants-pissing-terrified necks.
I have to say the blatant racism is a bit breathtaking. I just hope it does backfire on them spectacularly. I'd like to say that I have enough faith in my countrymen to be certain it would, but...well then I think back on the past 7 years...
True. However, when you get right down to it, you can pretty much count on about 40% (and count out about 25%). so all you need is basically 1/3 of the leftovers and we're golden.
Basically, you need people to decide whether endless war, a deteriorating economy, and a general situation that 80% of the country thinks is on the wrong track - is all that worth keeping the White House lily-white?
If so, well, in 40 years we'll actually be what most of the crackers think France is now, so I guess it won't matter much.
That said . . . no, I'm not surprised at all. Even if it's not officially condoned, it's not that far from the sentiments of all too many members of the party. Especially in the South (and I'm a former Texan).
If you go to their website, that was just the Most Offensive of a LOT of offensive buttons. Including some really rude ones about Hillary, and anti-Mexican. The guy is a real "winner" in attitude. And he's been with the Texas Republican Party for YEARS. So you know he's been churning out this kind of crap for YEARS. Just this time they got Walloped.
Oh, totally. The guy is clearly an idiot and a racist jerk. (I was looking at his Democrat-themed website, and there's one button that says "White Hard Working Person for Obama." Which just . . . gah. Would any Democrat be so cluelessly racist as to wear that?)
And I don't doubt that without all the media coverage, the party wouldn't have done anything.
What's sad is they mean it, they honestly think it's funny & don't get it when others try to explain they're displaying their prejudice & ignorance, or worse - they don't care.
