So the cats have been scratching like crazy lately, making me convinced I'm about to be overrun by fleas. I got them natural flea collars and some of the Frontline type stuff, vacuumed everything and am methodically washing all the fabric they spend any time on. Now have I actually seen a flea? Nope and no indication of any on the cats either but there could be some I'm just not seeing and even a hint of one throws me into the equivalent of a full on SGC foothold lockdown. Paranoid? Yes, but I've lived in a flea infested home before and it is the extreme opposite of pleasant.

As an extension of this I convinced myself I needed some Pennyroyal to plant in the garden as another barrier against bugs. I meant to only pick up the Pennyroyal...I really did, but there was this cute, cheap little French Lavendar plant and then I found this huge, gorgeous ginger mint for next to nothing and...well... So long as I don't eat out and content myself with what food I currently have in the house this shouldn't be a problem. Still, I'm not allowed anywhere near a nursery again until I'm employed.

Speaking of which, no word from the place I interviewed precisely one week ago which leads me to believe I'm not getting this job either. *sigh*

It is spring, a time when those little critters come to life.

I'll have to keep an eye on our guys/gals.

Yeah especially Max as he'd be the one to come in contact with the little beasts first in all likelihood. Here's hoping it doesn't become a problem for either of our households.

Fleas ... ugh. Horrid! Bob's allergic to them. And one time, there was an infestation limited to David's room (he never said anything about it until it was too late) and the kid got bit up so bad he developed cat scratch fever and had to see a doctor! Better to be safe than sorry. If I see Bob scratching more than usual, I bathe him right away and put drops on him; I certainly don't wait to see any evidence, since with his hair he could have dozens of fleas and I wouldn't know it - I know there's a problem right off the bat and take immediate measures. You're not paranoid - you're smart!

I suspect I'm both smart and paranoid ;)

I also have Kentucky Colonel Mint (which I've heard folks use for juleps as well) and Mojito Mint. I have a truly obscene number of mints growing in my garden currently...
