Ok so I left the tv on BBC America pretty much all day and it just so happens that the new Robin Hood series came on a few minutes ago. A new bad chick in a leather corset (yeah, let it go) appeared and her cronies were sporting...I shit you not...modern military berets. Jesus. Fucking. Wept.

I knew the costumers were bad but honestly this is BBC not SciFi, you'd think they'd at least be able to raid the costume warehouses for something a little closer to historical accuracy. Sadly, no.

Also my upstairs neighbors are playing their godawful music again. It involves lots of base and what sounds like a woman wailing. At least it's not two in the morning...

Are you for real? Wow, that's epic failure right there.

BBC Robin Hood is awful and pathetic. The only good thing about it is Richard Armitage and he can do so much better. If you want a good Robin Hood series, I strongly recommend Robin of Sherwood.

Oh honey I own all of the Michael Praed ROS in PAL format, and have for years. I've owned the soundtrack (which I still adore) since the mid 80's I think :) It was one of the many reasons I knew I had to friend you when I saw your ROS icons. BTW, I even have Mark Ryan's autograph, Nasir remains one of the hottest characters of all time...and two swords...*swoon*

LOL! I should have known that you were an RoS fan already! As you may have guessed, I'm a Guy Groupie, though I can understand why so many women swoon over Nasir's two swords. *g* I was lucky enough to meet Mark Ryan in 2000. In fact, I've had the good fortune to meet quite a few people associated with the show. Anywaaaaay, I think it's awesome that you're a fan. :-)

Holy crap, you're that Rusty Armour. I had wondered. Used to read your RoS fic back in the day. Wow. Small world, innit?

LOL! You've actually heard of me?! *g* I'm touched that you remember me from way back when. I'm still involved in the fandom, though I'm happy to say that my writing has improved a lot since my days of writing RoS fic.

I have indeed heard of you, and even visited your Nasty Knight page a time or three. Always meant to drop you an email letting you know how nice it was to see another Guy fan. *g*

I'm happy to say that my writing has improved a lot since my days of writing RoS fic.

So has mine, gods be praised. *VBG* Never had the guts to post any of my RoS fic, though, at this point, I'm not even sure I have a computer that could read the files. ;)

Which reminds me, I've been reading "In The Family Way" and really enjoying it, I hope you go back and finish it at some point. Most mpreg stories give me hives, but for some inexplicable reason, SGA fandom has quite a few that are remarkably well done.

Excellent, between the two of us we can pester her into finishing the story...I just have to know how it ends. :)

LOL! I almost managed to miss this comment! *g* I do plan to finish the story and I promise that you will find out how it ends. I'm just not exactly sure when. However, I hope it won't be too long before I can post the next installment.

Oh, awesome! :-) When I first started the site, I was sure someone would ask me to take it down! To my surprise, no one complained and I discovered that there were actually a surprising number of Guy groupies out there! In any case, it's always great to meet a fellow Gisburne fan.

Well, if you ever manage to read the files and decide to do a bit of revision, the Robin of Sherwood Fanfic Archive is always taking submissions.

I will finish it. I'll admit that the writing has been going pretty slowly lately, but I've had a lot on my plate and not enough time to work on the story. However, I'm hoping to post the next installment some time in the not too distant future.

I have to admit that a lot of mpreg stories give me the hives too, which probably sounds strange considering what I'm writing. However, there are at least a few mpregs in the SGA fandom that are very well-written. I think mpreg can work under the right circumstances. Of course, I think a really good writer can make just about any idea fly. *g*

It is indeed a always great to meet another Gisburne fan. Hee!

Which reminds me, mind if I friend you? I have three journals: [livejournal.com profile] windrose, which is mainly for whining about RL crap; [livejournal.com profile] seachanges, which is where I keep the professional writing talk, and [livejournal.com profile] ophidiae, which is for fannish nattering, but doesn't get used much these days.

Truth? I'm kind of scared to go back and re-read it now, given how much I've improved as a writer since those days. *wry grin*

I've had a lot on my plate and not enough time to work on the story.

Lord, do I ever know how that feels! We're in the middle of exhibit installation hell at the museum where I work, which hasn't left me with much in the way of brains for anything else. :P

I have to admit that a lot of mpreg stories give me the hives too, which probably sounds strange considering what I'm writing.

Weirdly enough, no, it doesn't. I started writing a Magnificent 7 genderswitch story (if you can imagine such a thing) after a fic list I used to belong to got swarmed with some god-awful "man to Mary Sue" crap. Why? Because I was pissed off by the badfic and wanted to do it RIGHT.

Come to think on it, a lot of my fic was written as a response to badfic. *g* Hell, I did a whole series of satirical SGA stories illustrated with Sims 2 ... though, alas, most of the people reading them didn't seem to understand they were intended as parody. *looks skyward for patience*

Of course, I think a really good writer can make just about any idea fly. *g*

Agreed. :)

Yes, certainly! That would be great! I'll be sure to friend you in return! :-)

Yeah, I can get on board with that. *g* I know I've written fic in the past because I haven't been satisfied by how a situation in a show was resolved (or not resolved) or because a particular episode sparked an idea. And, yes, I've found myself writing at least a couple of stories because they were the kind of thing I wanted to read and wasn't seeing online.

I don't think I've read that story! I'm sure I would have remembered it if I had! :-) Could you give me the link?

But of course!

All the episodes may be found here. The current story arc starts at Episode 15. This one is much more serious than previous stories, which may be why I haven't been able to finish it. It was also written after I discovered Comic Book Creator, so it's in a different format than earlier stories. The Attack of the Mary Sues storyline begins here.

And just so you don't think I'm a complete ninny after you read those, here's a link to the AU revisionist version of "Misbegotten" I wrote. I really really like that piece, and wish to god I could figure out a way to file the serial numbers off enough to turn it into original fiction.

Ooooooh! Thank you very much! I've saved the link for all the episodes of Sims 2 Theatre and the link for "Tabula Rasa". I hope to read all of these fics over the weekend -- at the latest. I did take a sneak peek at the first episode of "The Attack of the Mary Sues" storyline and it looks fabulous! I'm very impressed by the McKay and Sheppard Sims! :)

Yay! I hope you enjoy them!

I don't know if you play Sims 2 or not, but most of the Sims used in the SGA Theatre eps are available for download on my bitty little Sims 2 Page, Pegasus Sims 2.

FYI, the new Robin Hood series is supposed to be a fantasy AU, a la Xena: no historical accuracy needed or expected. Me, I enjoy good stinky cheese now and again, though I fully admit I mostly watch for Richard Armitage in tight black leather the pretty.

I've gotta' draw the line at berets in medieval England...I just have to. On the other hand I have to say the commercials for the series almost make me want to slash Guy/Robin in a weird and inappropriate way. They seem way more into each other than Marian, that's for sure :)

Oh, it's crap, to be sure. But it's very pretty crap, and quite slashable. *g*

It does freak me out to ever find myself thinking, "Guy of Gisborne is a hottie!" On the other hand it's making me want to pull out my RoS dvd's and spend some time oggling Michael Praed and Mark Ryan in very tight pants. *sigh*

Well, I've always been a Guy fan, from way back when RoS first aired. But Armitage is especially hot, if you like your men tall, dark, and brooding. Which I do. Very much.
