Well, as promised I'm now applying for all kinds of short-term contract/freelance work in the hopes that I can at least get some sort of income flowing in. My only consideration at this point is that it offer me more than unemployment currently is. Not a terribly high standard, I suppose. Still waiting to hear back from the confused company who promised to call today, but aside from that no other interest, sadly.

On the plus side I am also getting a helluva lot of packing done. However, I'm just about out of boxes already and I'm hoping I might be able to beg, borrow or steal some from a few locals (*makes puppy eyes at friends list*). If you can spare a few moving boxes I would be forever grateful.

I've also got a pile of books and stuff that belong to others, I'd like to get them returned so I don't have to pack and move them. The less stuff I need to be responsible for the happier I'm going to be.

I've seen some contract work that you'd be a good fit for, but which, in my opinion, didn't pay you nearly enough, especially since you'd have to cover your own insurance and taxes. If I recall correctly, it was on careerbuilder.com and was listed as a web content editor position.

For boxes, I'd recommend Freecycle. That's the number one item that is both offered and asked for.

Freecycle's a good suggestion, if I don't get any responses from the locals I'll try that next.

I think we gots the boxes. Unfortunately I didn't read this until after I left for work so I can't bring them over tonight.

I would check to make sure those boxes are structurally okay. I think a lot of those are ruined by four years of damp. Just, like most of the crap in the garage, I haven't gotten around to pitching them yet.

I can always swing by for them, which would probably be simpler anyway. Are you guys sure you can spare them, though?

As Tersa said, I believe that we will have no immediate use for them if they are still structurally sound.
Also, I have a collection of boxes in my closet which I am fairly certain are not damp, and I have used maybe one or two of them in the past year.
You get a Claude Rains icon because you could probably use it.

In that case let's discuss further this evening and we can plan out when I can come collect some from you :)

I have many boxes of all sizes, and am looking at getting rid of some of them...

Perhaps we can work out an exchange of movies for boxes? ;)

That would work well... how is your box supply doing?

I should have a good idea what I need after this weekend actually. I'm taking some off of Aelf's hands and that may put me pretty close to having enough.

Boxen?

Odd you should ask. The back of my van is filled with boxes I was taking to the dump today. Shall I drop them somewhere for you this evening?

We're talking about 10 small U-haul boxes and assorted others.

Holy crap that would be perfect! Let me know if you need my addy, or if something comes up tonight I can easily stop by and pick them up whenever is convenient for you.

There is never any need to take boxes to the dump. If you don't know someone who needs them, you can either freecycle them, or if you don't want to join freecycle, you can drop them off at a recycling center. If you're willing to flatten the boxes, there are drop off bins in downtown Mt. View where you can take corrugated boxes if your recycling pick up won't take collapsed boxes.

The dump is 2 minutes from my office, and very convenient in that I don't have to wrassle twine around an awkward stack of dirty cardboard. So, yeah, no need to go to the dump... it's just handy. They don't charge anything to dump cardboard in their recycling.

Freecycle is nifty and all, just not worth the bother when I don't want to arrange my schedule around meeting someone for the hand-off.

Ebon, I will need an address... I'll call before I leave work. The phone number I have for you ends with 7114. Is that still the right one?
