God why isn't it April 4th yet?!

Also I would like to publicly admit that I intend to watch this week's episode of Torchwood for one reason and one reason only...[livejournal.com profile] elo_sf tells me there's some Jack/Ianto groping. Yes, that is the one and only reason I intend to tune in. I am a sad, pathetic woman, I cop to that.

*cough* You knew about this, yes?

I'd heard about it but I remain dubious. It's a little too "Ashes to Ashes" versus "Life on Mars" for me right now. But Ron Moore's in charge so there's definitely hope...

You know that there were two episodes of Torchwood aired this week, right?

And that, despite the groping and skin shown in Adrift, Fractures is actually infinitely better and could be one of my favorite episodes of any tv show?

Not 'like ever' even. Just 'ever.'

I think he was referring to "Adrift", but now you've got me deeply curious about "Fractures".

The groping and naked hide and seek does happen in Adrift.

Has anyone told you anything about Fractures? Because I don't want to spoil it for you if you don't know anything about it yet.

I haven't heard a thing but truth be told I *love* spoilers, and I really need to be dragged into watching the show. I want to like it, I really do, but if you can give me some reason to be excited and happy about watching an upcoming episode I'd be very grateful :)

Okay. Awesome. The short spoiler is that Jack and Tosh and then Owen and Ianto are in two buildings that each blow up. Gwen overslept and wasn't out with them. What follows (as she and Rhys dig each of them out of the rubble) is a flashback showing how the four of them ended up in Torchwood.

Jack was in Cardiff in the late 1800's, looking for The Doctor and Torchwood was trying to kill him until he started working for them.

Tosh was a terrorist. Or, rather, terrorists kidnapped her mother and demanded that Tosh (who was working in Defense Research) create a sonic modulator for them. UNIT caught them all and stuck Tosh in a cell until Jack bailed her out.

Owen was engaged to a girl named Katie but they then found out that there was an alien nesting in her brain and then the alien killed her and Jack invites Owen to Torchwood so that he'll have a purpose.

Ianto, who was working at Torchwood London (and I'll warn you now that they messed up their timeline here because the battle of Canary Wharf (DW-verse) happened at the end of the 2006 season and Ianto's flashback starts off with '21 months earlier' which would put us at the end of the 2005 season with Dr 9 and, technically, before The Doctor even left Jack) and was stalking Jack. The UST started way back then, with Ianto seducing Jack with bad pick up lines, eye-rolling good coffee and the invitation to catch a dinosaur with a bar of chocolate.

And then Captain John and Grey show up!

It is just-- really. No one can say that they watch Torchwood for the plot. I think that they could write, and show us, Jack being in love with a unicorn and people would still love it. But so far, both seasons, there's been this one super massive kick-ass awesome episode that makes the whole season worth it. This episode is it for S2.

Ok Ianto was stalking Jack even before he'd admitted to himself that he might actually be gay. I like it. :) Right, I'm in at least for the next two episodes, you have totally convinced me ;)

I cannot imagine that you won't like this episode. I can't imagine that anyone wouldn't like this episode. I was in my sister's house for the weekend and watched it there and she (who thinks that Torchwood is the most retarded thing ever created) watched the entire episode and 'oohed' and 'ahhed' and jumped out of her seats at all the right moments.

Hmmm, best show on television?! I should see this. Maybe Netflix has some compilation DVDs for the cable-challenged ... worth looking into.

BTW *hugs* bigtime on the job hunt situation. I have tasted that fruit and I truly sympathize. I'll keep the prayers coming.

Oh dang I should totally have sent you at least season one of Torchwood, though I must say season two has been far superior so far. It's the only show on tv where slash is the main text, not the subtext. There's no need to squint to see it, actually, just watch this:

You're right: bing, there it is! The flames on the wall are entirely appropriate, and the scenes/action are paced well.

I didn't realize this was tied in with Dr. Who! I've only seen the random YouTube clip of John Simm having entirely too much fun as the Master. Someday, I swear, I will have cable again ...
