Busy weekend. Much praise and adulation for the ever lovely and talented [livejournal.com profile] eilonwey and her triumphant solo performance on Friday evening at Straw Hat. She was amazing, and despite the usual music "issues" at the venue, she maintained her poise and cool and kicked serious butt. The crowd cheered long and loud for her and the "Oooh" and "Aaah" factor was quite high. Everyone dancing that night was stunning and I think the audience thoroughly enjoyed themselves, I know I did.

Saturday was errands and crafty stuff, I got two hip-belts cut out of the hand dyed and painted fabric I brought back from NY earlier this year, and one is now completely stitched. I just need to measure each and find out how much fringe I'll need to get to finish them. I've found a couple of decent places online for 6" fringe, but if anyone knows of a fairly cheap place to find 8-12" fringe I'd be very grateful.

Sunday was dance class, and Alyne showed us the goodie bag she'd won at a competition the night before. We all chatted for a bit and then went over a move we hadn't done before that looks stunning. Not sure if we'll manage to fit it into our current choreography but we'll see. Then ran some errands and hit Whole Foods. Learned that WF on a Sunday is rather like visiting the floor of the NY Stock Exchange during trading. And they had people giving out free samples. *sigh* Fortunately I didn't bother with a cart or I'd probably still be there. Did manage to find some "tofurkey" slices that I can use for sandwiches, and some baked/seasoned tofu with dipping sauce that I'm quite intrigued to try.

Came home and mowed the front lawn, then headed out back to whack some of the bushes down a bit. One was attempting to climb over the fence into the neighbor's yard. Now I don't approve of letting my greenery have free reign like that, unlike *some* of our neighbors. Also fretted over my strawberries a bit, noting with supreme satisfaction that I had a good number of fairly large berries already ripening. My lemon verbena that I'd thought well and truly dead has come back beautifully, and my broccoli seedlings continue to do well. Still no morning glories, but the nasturtium seems happy enough. And oh my lord do I have a lot of rosemary and oregano. Does anybody need either? Help a girl out, huh?

Came in the house and danced for a bit, practiced the move we'd learned, and then realized I'd had nothing but a half a bagel all day. Decided a shower and some food was in order at that point. Then I finished baking the last dozen shortbread cookies from the dough left over from Saturday while playing Golden Sun. I find it's best if I play for a bit, save, turn it off and do something else, then come back. So far I've figured out almost everything using this method, but the frustration level is starting to rise. Still prefer mind puzzles to jumping puzzles, though, so I'll stick it out.

Then spent the evening watching XMen Evolution (bought the DVD Saturday), 4 eps from season 2. I'd really like season one on DVD, but apparently they've only been released on VHS. ?? [livejournal.com profile] senatorhatty came over to watch, eat pizza, and go through Aelf's many action figures. Many, many action figures. By the end of the evening he was practically surrounded by them, and we were all chatting about comic book characters, plots, etc. Is that the perfect way to get into the mood for the X2 premiere this weekend or what?
