ebonlockVIZ Pictures has acquired an art-house movie theatre in San Francisco's Japan Town district. Expected to open in the winter of 2008/2009, this 150-seat theatre will only screen Japanese films and anime. The theatre is set to be the shining attraction in The J-Pop Center, which will also feature stores selling popular books, fashion and food from Japanese pop culture. The theatre is expected to be
state-of-the-art with a THX sound system and a digital projection system. As
for the actual films, both anime and live-action titles will be showcased,
including ones that have rarely been seen outside of Japan. It is expected
this theatre and Center will be a hot attraction for the Bay Area as well as
for visiting tourists who want to get a fix of Japanese pop culture.
