I have to admit I'm kind of looking forward to the big storms heading our way. Today it's all blustery and switching from sunny to cloudy almost as quickly as the weather used to change back in my hometown. I grew up in one of those places where the phrase, "Don't like the weather, just wait 10 minutes" definitely applied. Though the past almost 8 years in the Bay Area has made me much more complacent about the weather. Normally I just don't have to think about it.

Back home you had to plan your life around the weather, out here you almost never do. It was part of the appeal of moving out here in the first place. A big part. Well that and the lack of snow, I really don't miss snow.

But having some big weather system blow through and shake things up a bit strikes me as nice now. Different. Exciting. I do wonder if this sudden craving for thrills is a harbinger of things to come for 2008. Maybe this is the year I face some fears and conquer them. I'd like to think that's at least part of what this year will bring.

In any case I find myself looking forward to 2008, even the uncertainty of work isn't bringing me down. It's nice to feel recharged and ready to face what's coming.

I'm glad I'm not the only one looking forward to the weather. Although, big storms like this get me nervous, too, for all the people who live in mudslide-prone areas, flood-prone areas, and for those who have to drive long (or heck, short) distances in it. And of course, I worry about all the homeless, too. Sigh. It's so sad because I wish I could just relax and enjoy it more. I love being inside my abode curled up under a blanket listening to the rain outside. Maybe it's because I grew up here and we go *months* without any rain that I just love it so much. I kind of liked the summer rainstorms in DC because they were exciting to me, too. But I liked them okay because I didn't have to drive in them due to telecommuting.

I made sure I took the train to work today and I'll do it tomorrow, too. It won't be much fun to walk in the rain, but I'd still rather do that than drive to work in it. I have it when there's that much water on the road (and tomorrow should be *bad*).

Yeah I'm not looking forward to either the commute home tonight or the drive in tomorrow. Still if I could drive with two feet of snow on the roads I don't have any worries about my own skills. It's just everybody else on the roads that scare me.

Oh, and btw, your holiday card got sent back to us. It said the street didn't exist, so I must have written something down wrong. I'll fix that and get it in the mail to you again. Sorry!

I don't have to drive to San Francisco every day, so it's a lot easier for me to say Yay Storms, but I walked out the office door to go to lunch today and positively reveled in the strong breeze laden with moisture and promised rain.

I hear ya, though my poor boss called to say he's stuck up in Oregon thanks to I5 being shut down. I warned him tomorrow was likely to be even worse.

thanks to I5 being shut down

Wow. That's pretty impressive. I assume he's somewhere north of the pass. (I *hope* it's the pass shutting down, because that at least happens once or twice a year.)
