First I'd like to again thank everyone who pitched in on my massage this weekend, good lord was it lovely! I could totally get used to being pampered like that. I'm glad I ended up going with the aromatherapy one as the oil she used was this wonderful citrus/lavender combo that was heavenly. The masseuse managed to find every problem spot without a word from me and work out every ounce of tension and pain. The nice thing was that afterwards I not only felt relaxed and de-stressed, but energetic too. The same didn't appear to be true of [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain who desperately needed a nap afterwards. But we both agreed we need to do that kind of thing much more often.

I had an otherwise relaxing and productive weekend including finishing up one of the Xmas gifts I'm making this year and stocking up on groceries that should tide me over for quite some time. Even got the trunk of my car cleaned out at long last so I can fill it back up with packages to be mailed out for Xmas soon. It'll be nice to get that stuff out of the apartment and free up my dining room area again.

Aside from that I'm continuing to be less than impressed by this season's Avatar, at least so far. There's some quality that I can't quite define that's missing from it. Maybe it's that I'm seeing some unfamiliar names on the writing credits. Don't get me wrong it's still the best animated series on tv and possibly the best series currently airing period, but it's just not working for me this season the way it did in the last. This season feels a bit...forced if that makes any sense. At any rate one series I'm not disappointed in is Dexter. I got through all but the last 4 episodes of season 1 and the show just kicks ass. It's all down to the lead actor who has this downright spooky handle on playing a sociopath. I love his timing, every reaction is just the tiniest bit off as if he needs to process what his emotional response should be before he commits to it. It's just perfect, and it's the best use of an internal monologue on a series that I've ever seen. It's what Dresden Files wanted to be when it grew up, alas that series never made it through infancy. I highly, highly recommend Dexter and am now convinced that I need to buy the series for myself.

And almost forgot to mention, I've lost 2 pounds this past week! Eating less and moving more seems to be doing the trick so I'm going to stick with it. Having a vast library of exercise routines to choose from on On Demand is helping the effort immensely!

I'm glad you had a relaxing time. You deserve it. And many people are saying good things about Dexter, but I think you're the first to say that Harry Dresden wants to be a sociopathic serial killer. (: I should obviously check this out. You get the Claude Rains icon because it's Claude Rains.

I was referring to the internal monologue format that both shows shared, actually.

Woot. I'm glad the massage worked out well for you. :) (Did you have Evelyn? Just curious.)

Also, yay, exercise!

No Evelyn wasn't available but I had a great masseuse named Fen who did a terrific job and had the strongest thumbs of anyone I've ever met.

I've been catching up on the Avatar this weekend, and I liked "Sokka's Master" - great ep. But the last one I saw was "the Beach." I really found myself turned off! Hopefully the next few will be better ...

I actually kind of liked The Beach even though the story telling itself was off (way too much time spent on one plot and not nearly enough on the other). The next few really aren't all that hot, though, I'm afraid. Sokka's Master remains the best of the season so far IMHO.

Oh dear. Well, I'm determined to get caught up this week and hopefully stay that way ... hope you feel better soon!
