So you can just tell how your week is going to go when bright and early Monday morning you're stuck in the traffic from hell. No, seriously, it took 40 minutes to get from the 85 on ramp to Rengstorff on 101 this morning. Yes, you read that right, 40 minutes. If I could've easily gotten to the merge lane I'd have just taken El Camino. It's hellish in its own special way but at least it moves.

Also discovered yesterday that my bank account is much lower than I'd hoped and I get to pay rent this week. On the plus side this is the last month of lower rent, it goes up on December 1...lucky me. So this month I need to be much more careful about my money. I've pretty much finished my Xmas shopping so that should make budgeting easier. And as I've paid for everything this year rather than racking up credit card debt I won't have a miserable January to look forward to when I do my taxes.

It's the little things in life...

But I did have a lovely weekend, very relaxing. Even finished and posted my Snape After DH challenge and got a bit of very nice feedback so I'm pleased. Got one of my niece's project's finished and I just have one more that must be completed by the end of November so I think I can relax a bit on that front. All the gifts I've gotten shipped thus far are wrapped and ready to go (even divided up by those that need shipping and those that don't). For the first year in a while I feel prepared for Xmas before November 1st. That is a good feeling, my friends.

Got to spend a fantastic Saturday evening with [livejournal.com profile] tersa wherein we chatted, drank apple cider tea, ate some gorgeous Macintosh apples with caramel (the perfect combination, I might add) and watched some bad horror films. I'd brought along a good flick on dvd but her TiVo started freaking out and screaming, "DO NOT WANT!" until we figured out how to force eject it. Wacky.

Sunday I did very little by design except finally get my hair cut. I just went to the little place by Lucky's which is a short walk from my apartment. I walked right in and into a chair the whole thing took about 15 minutes and I walked out with a cut I liked. Friendly, cheap, and fast that is my kind of place. Spent the rest of the day relaxing out on the patio or lazing around the apartment. Even managed a short nap before dinner which I almost never do. But my weekend of sloth has paid off as my back is almost normal again. What's nice is to be able to drive for more than 10 minutes without pain shooting down my right leg all the way to my toes. Yeah, I can totally live without that.

Thanks! Awww, they love it! But Beetlejuice as an obscure movie? Not if you had cable in the late 80's/early 90's!

I loved Beetlejuice. I completely identified with Lydia ... my mom even turned to me in the movie theater as it's playing and whispered, "That's you, isn't it?"

Your icon makes me so happy.

I loved Beetlejuice the first time I saw it, liked it okay once it hit mainstream America, and learned to hate it after having it play on HBO every weekend for 2 years straight (okay, so that's just what it felt like, but still). I still have an aversion to Michael Keaton. But maybe that was from Batman.
