So [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain doesn't worry, I'm home from work today with what seems to be a sinus infection, or something very like. I must've liked yours so much I wanted one of my own :) I've got plenty of supplies but the movie tomorrow might not work for me after all I'm afraid. I'll send email about that.

But on a lighter note, the one thing that always makes me feel better is fic, so I'm posting a sickbed request for fanfic "missing scenes" from OotP. Can be from the film or book, just a scene you'd have loved to see in either that you didn't. You can even re-write a scene if you like. Don't want Sirius to fall through the veil? Save him! Want to make Snape's Worst Memory something a wee bit different? Do it!

Doesn't have to be long, just a few sentences if you like, but I'd really love some good fic to take my mind off my head and stomach.

Thanks dear, I think I'm in pretty good shape as far as supplies. All I seem to want to do is sleep, sleep, and sleep some more. Always a good indicator that I'm ill :P

In that case, if you get any extra sleep, throw some my way? :)

(And I may even ponder the fic request. If I can remember enough of OotP to dredge up an idea... :>

Heh extra sleep, you got it. And I'd be over the moon if you did write me some fic!

Misnomer

"You did it again," Remus scolded.

"Did what?" Sirius was digging into a lukewarm bowl of Molly's reheated stew.
He pulled his black furry robe closed against the midnight cold, but it quickly
gaped open again revealing his disquieting prison tattoos.

"Called Harry 'James.'" Remus was absentmindedly cleaning up the mess Sirius
had made of the kitchen while fixing his after-hours snack. It would have
been more efficient to use a spell, but Remus enjoyed using his hands every now
and again. An honest day's work. Besides, he was thankful to have something
else to look at than Padfoot's chest. Each mark on that flesh was a reminder
of the years gone by and the friendship, once intimate, that proved stiff and
strained now.

"I did no such thing," Sirius intoned, but the quick pinch of his brow spoke of
self-doubt.

"You did. Snape mentioned it to me."

Black's gaze rose from the contents of his spoon, which now wavered an inch
from his ridiculously mustached mouth. Remus had offered to loan his trimming
shears to the man numerous times. The last instance had nearly ended in a fist
fight.

"Did Snivellus? And when was this?"

Remus flicked his dishrag in the air dismissively. "Dunno. A couple of days
ago, I suppose."

"Was he on top, or was it your turn?" Sirius smirked with disgust.

Remus coughed. The pretense at jealousy was ridiculous, and he refused to
acknowledge it.

"You really must stop," Remus warned.

"So he was on top. I should have known. You only get aggressive with the
waxing of the moon, as I recall."

"I meant with Harry. That poor boy has been through enough without him having
to wonder if his favorite gay 'uncle' might be a bit round the bend. Or worse,
putting him in jeopardy because he's under the mistaken belief that he's
reliving his best years again."

"Best years?" Sirius spit out incredulously, having completely missed the
point.

"Fighting the valiant fight, your *best friend* at your side, not believing you
could lose, not believing you could DIE." The virulence with which he spoke
the words shocked Remus himself. He couldn't believe that old wound still wept
all these years later.

"You really have to learn to let things go, Remus," Sirius said gently. Remus
only heard it as condescension. His blood burned with anger and he resisted
the urge to shout baseless epithets into the other man's face for several
minutes until he could quell the beast within. For some reason he felt vaguely
guilty. He thought of Snape's obsidian eyes and the searching, pleading way
they scanned Lupin's face in the candlelight of his bedroom. The guilt sparked
brighter, but the anger was snuffed out with that one simple thought.

"You're right," Remus said, his voice devoid of all feeling now. "I should
go."

"We could play a game of chess in the sitting room," Sirius offered, but both
men knew that he didn't really mean it.

"No, no, I should be going." Remus had to wonder at that. There was a time
he would have jumped at the romantic notion of playing a predatory game of
chess with Sirius by the light of the fire. But years had gone by -- the other
man's chest was marked with their passage. And Remus Lupin had learned to love
a man that actually loved him back.

"Okay," Sirius said a bit too quickly, and tried to recover with a warm, wide
grin.

"But, Sirius, truly... do us all a favor and try to remember... he's *Harry*,
The Boy Who Lived, not James."

Sirius ducked his head in embarrassed agreement. "Goodnight, Lupin."

He shut the door after his friend and snuffed out the lights in the hallway.

"He's Harry, The Boy Who Lived, not James..." he repeated. "Not James, the man
who died." Sirius sighed and, weighed down with regrets, shuffled off to once
again not sleep in his bed.

"...NOBODY EVER TELLS ME ANYTHING! MY OWN PAST IS A SECRET FROM ME THAT EVERYONE SEEMS TO BE IN ON, AND NOBODY TRUSTS ME..."

Hermione drummed her fingers on the table impatiently. She understood the importance of letting Harry get this sort of thing off of his chest, but this was the eighth such rant today and she was rapidly running out of patience. It didn't help that he never actually seemed to complete his sentences, trailing off instead in a manner that ensured that they were never certain when he was done.

"Wow, that's terrible," she said through gritted teeth. She looked to Ron for support, but he looked very busy with whatever disgusting delicacy he was on today.

"AND THE WORST PART IS HOW NOBODY SEEMS TO UNDERSTAND ME, I FEEL SO ALONE THE WORLD IS A DARK PIT OF DARKNESS I'M GOING TO GO CUT MYSELF-"

"Oh, that is it," Hermione said as she stood up and rounded the table angrily. She kicked out and knocked Harry to the floor.

"Stop. Being. A whiny. Little. Shit!" Hermione screeched, punctuating each word with another kick to Harry's prone form, which was writhing an agony. She gave him one last kick to the ribs, for good measure, and then turned on her heel and walked away, her hands thrown up in exasperation.

Gah. Imagine that, only I remembered to close the italics tag on the last line at the end of the dialogue.

Ok you are my new hero, seriously I spent all of Book Five wishing someone would do that very thing. Emo CAPSLOCK! Harry was possibly the most annoying character ever created.
