[livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain just dropped me a link to this piece on the Avatar third season which contains this juicy morsel:

This morning Paramount Home Entertainment has announced the DVD release of Avatar: The Last Airbender - Book 3: Fire, Volume 1 on October 30th. The first single-disc release contains the first 5 episodes of the new season, with a running time of about two hours. Those episodes are reportedly to be titled "The Awakening," "The Headband," "The Painted Lady," "Sokka's Master," and "The Beach." In order to get this release out at that time, with that many eps, and assuming they are waiting until after the 2nd season DVD collection hits in the second week of September, then Nick will have to begin broadcasting in the third or fourth week of September. Cost of the B3,V1 disc is expected to be $16.99 SRP, similar to the previous individual DVDs in this series. Here's a look at the packaging. Oh, look! Fire! Wait, when did Aang grow hair?

In case you're wondering what they're talking about on the Aang with hair front,

If this cover is any indication Book 3: Fire is going to be dark, action-packed and totally ass-kicking. The kids are definitely growing up. Gah, October cannot come soon enough!!

And here, I'm just all excited that NIK is finally again showing S2 episodes that aren't out on DVD yet. :)

Eng with hair? WTF? It doesn't add anything, in fact, it takes away from his monkish image, which was cool.

Yeah but he's got to go undercover into the Fire Nation and the bald head with the big blue arrow is kind of a giveaway. Growing hair is a quick and easy method of disguising his appearance at least a little.

Maybe September air dates?

Yeah that's the speculation, especially since the boxed set for season 2 is coming out early September and often those two things go together.

Avatar goodness!

Ooooh! Squee! More Avatar! Gee I wish I had cable & either a DVR thingy or a TV tuner add-on for my laptop. I had a blast in April when I was incredibly sick with a sinus infection and I got to watch oh, 14 episodes straight. What a great show. I, too, thought, "Wow the kids are growing up, eh?" I need to finish watching Book 2 (or wherever it was that I left off).

An Avatar movie, by practically any name, would be da bomb.

I really wish I had your optimism about that...

OMG, this is made. of. awesome. I'm going to have to save any Amazon gift certificates up so I can get the 2nd season set ASAP, and we'll totally have to do that watching party when the 3rd season premieres. Get take-out dim sum from VG and watch our favorite episodes after the new one, maybe?

I wonder if Sokka's going to grow his hair out a bit, as well--I can't quite tell if the sides/back are still shaved, or not, but a fairly simple modification would make him look more Fire Nation-y.
