I've been dubious about seeing 28 Weeks Later, but this review may have just sold me on it:

Zombie Mon Amour: I have an intimidating amount of work to get done over the next 12-24 hours, so I'll be brief: 28 Weeks Later is one of the best movies I've ever seen, and certainly the best I've seen in a long while. And believe it or not, allusions to the Green Zone and all, the movie is surprisingly (and, to be sure, subliminally pro-American). For those of you with an interest in pretty people (you know who you are, and it's not my place to judge), both Catherine McCormack and Imogen Poots are as beautiful as they are talented. Jeremy Renner is an obscurish character actor who does incredibly well. Director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo is so awesome that I clearly now have to see everything else he's done.

Also, the movie stars Stringer Bell as the calm, deliberate voice of American authority. How can you go wrong?

Best comment in response:
Is there a zombie Omar in the film that eventually takes him out? Because that would be the coolest thing I've ever seen.

Think I'll wait for video as I don't think it'll particularly suffer for being on the small screen, but now I do definitely want to see it. Of course I also still want to see "Smokin' Aces" and "The Host"...

I'll gladly rent The Host for us, but after reading reviews of SA, I think you're on your own for that one, the amusement of hearing you utter "I'll totally buy this movie if..." aside.

Opinions on the Final Girl forum are mixed but I think I might treat myself to it some time. If only the drive in would put something better with it...

Ooh drive-in, now that might well be worth seeing rather than waiting for the dvd release :)

<a href="http://www.valleydriveins.com/>Yup. It's about 15 minutes away from where we live, just opened for the season last month. 5 screens! $7/person for two movies! I'm looking forward to checking it out and seeing how it is. I'm hoping the lineup will change on Friday (well, next Friday, really, since I won't have time to go this weekend I bet). Bug might be a fun pair with 28WL but... I just don't have much interest in seeing Pathfinder which is what is paired with it now.

Pathfinder? Oh man, that stinker is still out there? Not even Carl Urban mostly naked could get me to that one. But Bug is supposed to be pretty cool from what I've read. Very psychologically horrifying, and those are my favorite kind!

Have you seen 28 Days Later? I thought it was very effective, and Christopher Eccelston was in it, which might please you. Cillian Murphy was the star, which pleased me. The sequel will make ever so much more sense if you get caught up on 28 DL, if you missed it. I'll probably wait for the DVD, but so far it's gotten very good reviews.

Oh I saw a sneak preview of 28DL way back when it first came out, so I'm totally up on the story. I did like it, it was a really effective horror film (though the premise for the "rage virus" was a bit silly).

Got it was OK it doesn't have a central character so it goes from here to there, not a bad watch like on an afternoon wouldn't sent aside any time to see it though. John
