Just a quick update, I have been attacked by the Plot Bunny of Caer Bannog and am currently in the mad research and figuring stuff out stage so I may not be quite so prolific on LJ. I may also walk up to you out of the blue and ask, "So what's your opinion on whether or not Legilimency could be performed on a ghost?" It does not indicate that I'm off my meds, I promise.

Also I slipped last night and referred to my current story as "my book". [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain had a good long laugh at that.

We'll see if I can keep this head of steam going for more than a week or two. Usually I just burn out within a few days and decide that while the story is cool and I'd like to know how it's going to turn out, it's just not worth the effort of actually writing it all down.

This morning in the shower I had an interesting thought regarding Bob and Hamlet.... ;)

Shit now you've got me picturing Harry saying, "Alas poor Bob..."

What would I have to do to get a dialogue-only fic wherein Bob lets on that he was the skull in the first staging of Hamlet and Harry... is Harry?

Let me put it this way, I might be convinced to throw a mention of it into the current story. BTW, I figured out the whole resurrection spell thing last night I think. I mean why Bob would need to be in human form again to be of any use in that particular spell and why he couldn't just have told the Justin-ganger how to bring his progenitor back.

We were speculating as to whether Bob could do any actual magic or whether he just knew it real well. I decided not, but it's your book!

My theory on that is that he can't do magic as a ghost, his will is too bound by the curse. I can't really see the folks who killed his ass and stuck him in there being ok with him still being able to work dark magic, it just wouldn't make any sense. Of course as to whether or not he could while in the Nevernever...well, that's another discussion.

I am not well-versed in the Dresden-verse, but my understanding had pretty much been that magic isn't an act of will alone, but requires manipulation of material stuff except if someone, like a dragon or demon, is inherently magical.

But I got no idea really. I could ask someone who knows the author, I suppose.

I'm going with the rules established in the tv universe rather than the books, and they do seem a bit different. But there does seem to be a need to physically handle or touch objects in most cases, either as foci, creating potions, or just channeling energies using the body to complete the circuit.

However, I'm crossing over the Dresden universe with the HP universe which has slightly different rules, for them it's more will based and aside from wands and potions there don't seem to be a lot of other tangible objects needed for spell casting.
