Er, well I didn't get a whole lot of response to this yesterday so I'll try again today in the hopes that those who missed it then will catch it on the repeat:


So today's the big day, we go live and public with our beta site and hope the entire thing doesn't collapse under us. I'm not saying it will, but I do acknowledge that it's a possibility. Right now, though, our big hope is to start building traffic, and we need to build it pretty darn quickly. If you check out the site and like what you see please post a link or two to your journal and encourage some others to visit as well. We're basically doing this all at grassroots level so anything anyone can do to help spread the word would be greatly appreciated.

Feedback on what you like/don't like, technical problems you encountered, etc., is highly encouraged. I really recommend you check it out on IE or Safari as Mozilla seems to have some plug-in issues

ADDENDUM: To everyone who did try it out yesterday and had technical issues, reported them, and helped us bug fix, thank you so very much. The engineers claim they tracked down the issue and we should see the fix on Thursday. In the meantime if you run into the dreaded 500 Status Error, dump your cache, close your browser and go back in, then, like magic, it will be fixed until it happens again.

ADDENDUM II: It would mean so much to me to hear your opinions on the projects I've produced, this is my first time as a producer and I'm feeling a bit...vulnerable just now. Please don't make me resort to begging, it really wouldn't be pretty.

I for one enjoyed the comic, it kept me interested in what happened next. I can imagine what went into the creation/production of your projects and I salute you!

I want so much to help with the site but I'm afraid that my computer savvy is inadequate to the task. For example, I try to play a single-player game and I get the popup window, but the popup window is a blank square. I don't know enough to say it's a problem on my end or the site ... but it's what I experienced last night when I tried it. I would love to play some of these games! I'll clear my cache and try again ... I don't know what else to do.

Did you ever receive the corrections to the Spanish site that I sent a while back? Let me know & if not, I'll send it again.

Yep I got the corrections but right now the webpage text is not high on the engineer's concerns I'm afraid ;) Hopefully within the next two weeks we'll get all that straightened out. And again, we may need to talk about translating the Paranormals as well.

Now as for your problems with the games, let me ask you this, when you saw the empty pop-up did you also see empty ads on the main page? If so that's the 500 Status Error. If not it may be a problem with the JAVA on your computer, which is (thankfully) pretty easy to fix.

Ah yes, there are indeed blank ads on the main page - so it must be the 500 Status Error. Thanks for clearing that up for me :)

I'll keep nosing around the site, trying various bits and pieces of it. I really like the look and feel of it, it's cleaner, more user-friendly IMHO.

I am thrilled to report that I didn't get the 500 Status Error tonight! I was actually able to play a game for the first time ... I picked Adventures in Slugland, since it's intrigued me from the moment I laid eyes on its text. I really liked it. Level Heck is aptly named!

However I can't get to my Fridge, it hangs on 1% when it tries to load. I can see the bit at the top that has "username" and "bonus points" etc. - that part loads okay - but the fridge itself just isn't happening for me tonight. I'll try again tomorrow. (IE7, WinXP/SP2, 3200+ AMD processor)

Ok, let's try something, the next time you try to load a Flash element like the Fridge and it doesn't work do the following:

Click in the loading error then the following keys:

\
i
l

You'll see a little box pull up click the "normal" option, then right click and copy everything in that box and paste it into an email for me along with your system info.

IE is definitely more stable, though not completely stable quite yet. I have high hopes for Thursday's update, though.
