For those wonderful souls willing to help out with my move this weekend I will try to post all of the pertinent details tomorrow. In the meantime [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano has posted his review of Curse of the Golden Flower, and all I can say is, "Yeah, pretty much." I'd add that the color scheme for the film goes beyond 'Yes' to 'OH GOD YES!', but surprisingly after about 30 minutes of exposure to it you almost kinda get used to it. I love the fact that a HK film actually managed to make pretty much everything I've seen come out of Bollywood look dull by comparison, it's serious sensory overload but worth it. I'm totally doing a double feature of it and The Lion in Winter someday.

In the Avatar game I have made it as far as Omashu and am currently so frustrated by attempts to sneak around the library that I have set the game aside for a while. S'ok though 'cause then I switched over to my D&D boxed set to watch some eps and special features. Yes it's goofy and the animation leaves much to be desired, the writing is often hokey and the plots full of giant holes...but I still love it. The characters really are just a lot of fun. And the special features are actually worth checking out for a change, the fan made film was surprisingly well done (though much too short), and apparently the same group did a live action version of the ep "The Treasure of Tardos", which I would dearly love to track down. The set also came with a full length adventure and all the stats for the characters, if anybody wants to know what I want for my birthday this year, it's to game this with me as Erik. I think [livejournal.com profile] moonlightnrain would make an excellent Sheila, maybe I could talk [livejournal.com profile] tersa into taking over as Hank, and [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene as Diana. Not sure who would make a good Bobby or Presto, but I'll give it some thought. And [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano, I will bat my eyes at him and offer to show anyone willing to play the best of the episodes so they can understand the basic setting and character interactions. That would be the greatest birthday gift EVER!

Damn, I just maxed out my geek points for 2007 didn't I?

I'm down for it, but having seen only a few eps (to the best of my memory, though one within the last year), please put me down for needing a better education of D&D eps. :) I know how much you hate introducing me to stuff you love. ;)

I was thinking of holding a mini-marathon for anyone interested in playing. This is, of course, dependent upon [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano being ok with DM'ing it.

Keep in mind that I will not only need to see the episodes but also learn to GM 3ed D&D--unless the characters are written up in 1ed format as they properly should be.

I could check on that, but I think we could convert them to first edition easily enough if we needed to.

As for this weekend, can you confirm for me the actual day(s) we're helping you? Do you only need us on Sunday, or do you need us Saturday, too? I'm forgetting, tis all.

Actually I believe his name is spelled Eric, so I'll try to remember to spell it that way when I speak of the animated version ;)
