Got my gifts from J- delivered at work yesterday, and being a pragmatic woman I went ahead and opened them so I could decide which ones could stay at the office in the short-term until I figure out where they'll go at the new place. So I now have two Zuko series one figures, regular Fire Nation outfit Zuko and the special Blue Spirit with dual broadsword action one! They're glaring down at me from a shelf at the office. I also got the Storyteller boxed set of DVDs and of course the Dungeons and Dragons boxed set. The latter is actually pretty cool (though the "pewter" dragon figure in it is actually plastic, which made me snicker), and I geeked out in the extreme going through the DM's guide to the characters and world.

I have stats for Erik's shield now...I think I can die happy.

I would give a lot to game with these characters so long as I got to play Erik. It would be way too much fun to scream like a girl over every single encounter, cower, and snark my way through a dungeon. And I have this intense mental image of [livejournal.com profile] cyranocyrano just slaying me as the enigmatic Dungeon Master.

I am geek, hear me roar!

Hmm, someone with an awesome shield declaring all out defense and soaking up enemy attacks isn't a useless strategy in D&D either. :-)

Their party could really use a cleric, though. Maybe Uni can heal.

Yeah they usually just stumbled upon some healer-type but that's not really a winning strategy, is it? I've just always thought it was pretty clever that the character with the most obvious defense mechanisms psychologically and emotionally was the guy who got the shield.
