Yes, I find this quite appropriate indeed.

I've decided today is guilty pleasures day and so I'll share one of mine with you. There's this one episode of Little House on the Prairie, ok actually a made for tv movie for the series, wherein the one character I actually liked on the show, Albert, comes down with a terminal disease and presumably succumbs to it shortly after the credits roll. Yeah, I know, I'm a total black widow when it comes to the characters I get attached to. If I like them, they're doomed. Which does make me fear for Severus. If he were a character in the movie Feast his life expectancy would probably read: "Ellie loves him...he's fucked."

Anyway, they were playing the show last night, which I discovered quite by accident, and I recorded it. That show and the movies "The English Patient" and "Dark Victory" are my "Break Glass in Case of Emergency Sob-Fest Flicks". If I need to cry my eyes out they're all guaranteed to do it for me. I have this thing about dying with dignity, you see.

Of course it doesn't hurt that I also had a raging crush on Albert Ingalls while growing up.

Got a guilty pleasure of your own? Share it in the comments.

Speaking of sob-fest movies, have you seen Lady Jane? That one does me in every time.

Oh yeah, but I haven't seen it in years. It's definitely a tear-jerker, though, no doubt.

Albert Ingalls was adorable, how could anyone not have had a crush on him?

Speaking of guilty pleasures, do you think we could squeeze a couple of episodes of WotW in this weekend? Or maybe some PS2? Or Naked? :)

I'll use this icon, since Team America: World Police is a guilty pleasure of mine....

Um probably, I don't think there's much going on this weekend and I'm nearly done with the one big craft project I assigned myself, so I should be somewhat free. Though I do want one day this weekend for housekeeping duties and generally de-cluttering.

My only plans, I believe, are for brunch Sunday morning up in the city (other than, of course, the plans you already know of). So whatever works for you.

Speaking of housekeeping, I suppoe I should get back to it.

Hey we could destroy our enemies, burn their homes and enjoy the lamentations of their women together! Woo!

Wonder twin powers... ACTIVATE!

From: [identity profile] moonlightnrain.livejournal.com
Off subject, I know, but I caught a clip of the Wonder Twins the other day where he turned into "gelatin dessert" and she turned into a "giant pelican" and I was like "cheating!" What the hell? Since when is gelatin a form of water? Where'd he get the ground up cow hooves? And giant pelican? From which planet? And then I laughed because I was honestly upset that the writers for the Wonder Twins had taken artistic license with their powers....

I need a day job.

One is forced to wonder in what sort of circumstance the combination of a pelican and Jell-o would be beneficial. Sounds more like a Monty Python skit to me than superheroes saving the day.

Um, some portly teenager was falling to his death in a canyon, so he bounced off the jello and into the waiting maw of the giant pelican. *laughs* I think the writers smoked a lot of weed.

You know, even cheesy entertainment needs some internal consistency. I'd be upset, too. My mom loaned me a fluffy women's novel that I couldn't enjoy because it was clear that the author hadn't done her research on a couple topics that I happen to know more than a little about. The average reader wouldn't care, but I cared and it totally ruined it for me. Sigh.

Are you familiar with the cult of Adam & Jamie?

From: [identity profile] moonlightnrain.livejournal.com
You know, though, it would be an interesting episode of Mythbusters... could a heavy-set teen really bounce up off of jello? If so, could an oversized pelican catch him in its mouth? I can already see Adam plunging into a pool of gelatin while Jamie cackles behind his mustache.
From: [identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com
Or it could be a really awful fanfic challenge. "Snape and Lupin, established relationship, must include a giant pelican, Jell-o, and one slightly overweight Hufflepuff third year."
From: [identity profile] moonlightnrain.livejournal.com
I ought to just turn that right back to you, you're the one who's lacking a Snupin project....

Speaking of, what ever happened to the idea of an HP Tarot deck? I vote for Severus as Knight of Pentacles... that's just so... him. And some Gryffindor for Knight of Rods, though I'm undecided which. Maybe James.
From: [identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com
There actually are a couple of HP Tarot deck concepts out there, but I've never gotten anywhere on mine. I'm almost thinking of Severus casting the Avada Kedavara on Albus as a kickass Death, myself.
From: [identity profile] moonlightnrain.livejournal.com
It beats Sirius tripping and falling through the veil, sure. :) Although I think Severus killing Albus would be better for The Tower. But I'm trying to match card-meaning to character, really, more than images (though that works on both levels, IMO). It doesn't hurt that the Knight of Pentacles in my deck looks like Alan as Severus, but the card meaning fits him perfectly too.

I was sorted into Hufflepuff because I smell like a badger. Nobody will want to save me, so I might as well jump off this cliff...
From: [identity profile] ebonlock.livejournal.com
"Hey, look, a giant pelican! And isn't that Professor Snape and Mr. Lupin having wild sex in that vat of Jell-o down there?"

I guess the closest I come to a "guilty pleasure" is contemplating the finer details of a Snape/Lupin 'ship. From what little I've seen of one of the HP movies, it's obvious that something's going on between them and whatever it is, it's good.

Oh my dear, come over to the Snupin side of the force :) Seriously, join us (http://community.livejournal.com/lupin_snape/profile). And by all means, read my story and let me know what you think! (http://www.ssf-moonshadow.com/archive/archive/9/scaleof.html) :)
