Not quite so happy today, the cold has settled deeply into my sinuses, my nose is a bright cherry red, and staying awake is a constant struggle. I have also lost the ability to taste pretty much everything, which, on the plus side has made eating something I have to actively remind myself to do. Also managed to develop a nice little fever yesterday afternoon and had just enough energy left to drag myself home and collapse on the couch.
And then there was the Sharks game.
*sigh*
I was considering getting one of the Sharks Pack of tickets for next season mainly because I really enjoy seeing sports live. There's just an element of excitement and fun at an actual arena that you can't get just watching a game on t.v. And the Sharks have a warm, soft spot in my heart so being assured 10 games seemed like a great idea.
Now, though, I'm not so sure. The team I used to love, the one that came so close to greatness last year, is being dismantled piece by piece. Half the time I tune in for a game and barely recognize any of the players. "Wait, who is that? Is he a trade or called up from the Barons?"
Whatever. It seems clear that everyone from management down has given up on the team so I don't see a clear reason why I shouldn't. Of course the silver lining here is that there should be plenty of tickets available should I get the desire to see a game next season.
The weekend is looking peaceful for a change, the only real plan I've got is for the veil workshop on Sunday. We're going to go over some new moves and start thinking in terms of another choreography. Saturday I intend to do yardwork and perhaps some gardening as well. And if that doesn't completely wear me out I might start the housework necessary for my next houseguests in a few weeks. Then there's the possibility of working on a drawing or two, we shall see.
And that's pretty much it at this point, which sounds downright heavenly to me.
I'm really starting to get attached to the following website:

I highly recommend the article "The Politics of Depression".
Now I'm going to go blow my nose.

Date: 2003-03-07 12:51 pm (UTC)I agree that one ought to have a wealth of information sources. I'm not sure I buy that "niceness == death."
I do emphatically agree that disagreement about policy is not the moral equivalent of evil, which seems to be a standard radical rallying cry -- about Bush, about Gore too. What's the point with that rhetorical device? It goes down well with your extremist buddies, but doesn't it pretty much paint radicals of any ideology as reactionary and unduly illogical in the view of most reasonable people, whether they be on the right or the left? This is what bewilders me so much about the anti-war coalition.
I'm not saying that you, Ellie, should or can speak for all anti-war persons, but I really don't understand this behavior.
