So I've been awake since 2:30 this morning, and yet I don't feel that out of it. Had I known [livejournal.com profile] aelfsciene was similarly afflicted with insomnia I probably would've gotten up and gone to chat with her. Sadly, I didn't, and I had this vain hope that I might pass out again if I just lay still enough. So much for that idea.

I'm currently choosing to blame two things, one the caffeinated drink I had with lunch and the Dr. Who episode "Love and Monsters". The former was a Thai iced tea which, in combination with garlic and curry sauce, did a right number on my stomach for the rest of the day. The latter was just...disturbing in a profound way. By the end of the ep I'd decided I didn't want to watch that one pretty much ever again. I just couldn't get it out of my head, and not in a good way, still can't quite...*shudder*

I have to say that this season has been a love/hate one, "Love and Monsters" and "Idiot's Lantern" definitely go on the "hate" side, but given that all the rest end up tallied under "love" I guess I can't bitch too much. Still, I'm having a hard time understanding how series one could have been so much better overall. I mean they seem to have retained the same group of writers, so why they're all over the place quality wise this season is beyond me.

Enough about that, though, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ravenmb who is graciously allowing me to babysit her TiVo for her for a bit. She was kind enough to spend several long and frustrating hours attempting to get it hooked up with me yesterday. We ended the afternoon with success after many attempts and now everything but my region free DVD player is all hooked up and working perfectly. Yay! I do have one question though, for everyone out there with TiVo/DVD-R's, can I dump stuff periodically to the DVD-R or do I need to do a single write like I would on a computer? Just want to make sure before I end up wasting a disc.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] ravenmb do you want Hex? If not I'm removing that one from the record list 'cause I've decided the show pretty much sucks and isn't worth my time. But if you want it I'll happily dump it to dvd for you.

And many thanks to my friend J- whose gifts arrived on Saturday. I now have a gorgeous teal Sharks bag, some cool BSG dog tags, a backup copy of "Last Exile", a Dharma t-shirt and my prized possession, a Monarch t-shirt! And hey new Venture Brothers episodes start soon, woo!

Yeah, this one definitely falls with idiot's lantern in many ways, though I think it was much better and there was a lot of good stuff about the Doctor and Rose in there so it was better.

That said, it had its issues.

No, Hex can go, as can anything else, seriously. And yes, you have to do a single write to the DVD with Dumbledore. And d'oh! I hadn't realized I was keeping you from the next ep of DW. Sorry that it took so long, and thanks again for your patience.

You weren't keeping me from anything at all, I had plenty of time to watch it, though I'm regretting that I did...

Commenting to this so it's not as if it went into the ether, where I'm concerned at least...

Since my TiVO *is* the DVD-R, I have no idea how it would work with your set-up. But, I would assume that what will drive how it can be burned is all from the DVD-R unit end, and the TiVo would simply act like a VCR would in a similar set-up.

I just meant is it a one time burn process like a computer, or can I add things to the same dvd as I can on my regular dvd-r? R- says it's a one time burn thing so I just need to put together the list of items I want to burn onto the dvd beforehand and do it at one time, if I'm understanding it correctly.
