Before I toss this out on Craigslist I thought I'd run it by my friends list and see if anybody might be interested. We're really looking for someone in the Bay Area preferably, who would be available for meetings and "face time". Contact email's at the bottom of the listing, and I'm afraid I don't know anything about compensation at this point. Any other questions I will do my best to answer.

Major children's media company is on the verge of relaunching our website to an expanded demographic with exciting, cutting edge technologies.

The Public Relations consultant will be responsible for the the site's overall PR plan, strategy and direction.
This is a 20 hour per week consultancy job. The PR consultant will perform, but not be limited to the following:

· Works with executive team to manage the company’s strategic brand public relations efforts

· Maintains and cultivates relationships with journalists of key entertainment, family and other trades as well as broader-based business publications.

· Fosters relationships with relevant industry organizations. Identifies opportunities for speaking engagements and other public relations events that support business and branding initiatives.

· Develops and maintains press kits, press releases, fact sheets, marketing collateral, and website press information.

· Authors and/or edits various communications such as press releases, bios, articles, and other announcements.

· Responds to media inquiries and facilitates interviews with company representatives.

· Maintains system for archiving relevant media and press materials.

Reports to: Executive Team

The ideal candidate must have:

· 10+ years public relations experience, with 5-7 years specific to the family, children's and/or entertainment industry

· In-depth knowledge of the online family and children's industries

· Strong strategy and media relations background with proven program results

· Established network of contacts at the major entertainment, family and other relevant publications and business trades

· Ability to train executives to become spokespersons for company; comfortable and skilled in media interviews

· Comfort and experience working closely with all team members from all groups: editorial, sales and engineering

· Independent, self-sufficient work ethic with good initiative & follow through

· Must be team player, willing to roll up sleeves and get the job done

- Strong writing, editorial and proofreading skills a must
