Wee! Thanks to the ever watchful [livejournal.com profile] tersa, I was alerted to the fact that [livejournal.com profile] trystbat posted more Baycon pics!. Until the official ones come out these are some of the best quality shots you'll see. If you want to note details in the costumes definitely give this link a click.

Speaking of [livejournal.com profile] tersa we were talking while playing "Jaws: Unleashed" last night and I proposed the idea of starting an American Quidditch League community to see if we could encourage others to make their own variations of Quidditch robes for their local teams. It'd be kind of cool if this concept caught on :)

And on the subject of Jaws, I have to say the game provides a gratifying level of carnage and gore. My favorite bit was trying to sneak up on swimmers and yank them under before someone could sound the alarm and they all scurried for the beach. Heh. Unfortunately I discovered that I can play the game just fine, but not watch someone else play as it causes me intense motion sickness :P Reminds me of Rogue Squadron, it always had that effect on me.

I love the idea of an AQL community. Hell, I'd probably come up with a few, because, you know, I'm a Short Timer here. I could help it spread to Ohio. :)

Ok lemme discuss this whole plot with [livejournal.com profile] chrisber and [livejournal.com profile] tamago on Saturday and see what they think. If they're game and would be willing to either post the pattern or help others create their own I think this needs to be done.

What they really should do is convert it to .pdf and set it up to sell online. I know several knitters who do that.

But yay! Yes! We must discuss this with them!

Chris refuses to sell it. The robe itself is mostly just an A-tunic. He will be posting the instructions, but it may take him a little while, as cleaning the house comes first.

But, I'm all in favor of a Quidditch Community. It sounds like a blast! (And if people want brooms...)

I was also discussing it with a friend in Houston who's moving to NYC. He wants to start a New York Lions team. Black and gold robes. And knowing Kel, they'd be SPARKLY GOLD. :D

Your post put me in mind of my comment while playing: "Whee! Seasickness!"

Except I hadn't realized it was literal. Oops. :)
