So for all those interested, I had a nice chat with the head of the GI department who is under the impression that whatever is wrong with me, it isn't an ulcer. Good news and bad news that, ulcers are child's play to cure these days, on the other hand not having an open sore on a major internal organ's not exactly the end of the world either.

But this doesn't get me out of all the tests, oh no. So CT scan on Tuesday and endoscopy whenever I can get an appointment for one. Apparently whatever they drug you with for the latter is so good that you're not even allowed to take a cab home after it. The nurse commented that I probably didn't want to go changing my will for at least 24 hours afterwards, nor making any other major decisions. I just laughed and promised not to.

I suspect I won't do much that afternoon save sleep, and perhaps sleep a bit more.

Ah well, nothing yet to report but maybe a few answers soon enough. Oh, and interestingly enough my doc's family was originally from the Ukraine as well. Seems to be quite a few of us ou there :)

Let me know if you need a ride and/or babysitting after the latter--I'll try to fix my schedule up.

Supposedly I will need a babysitter that day, which irks me to no end, but I can't make the appointment until Monday and it may take some time to actually get in there to have it done.

Well, it's not like I'm going anywhere. (:

I spoke too soon, just got a call back and got my appointment. I'm going to check with Aelf 'cause it's a Friday and she would be coming up here anyway, so I might just be able to have her do the duty for me. I'd hate to ask you to take any time off from work for it, but the person told me I should be entirely done by 1, so that might not be so bad. Will let you know one way or another by Sunday.

Depending on where docs are, I can also get you to or from home.

Oh I'd just be down at PAMF, but I'm supposed to have somebody there for the whole two hours, which is a tremendous pain in the butt.

Wow, good luck/have fun with the tests ... ugh. Sleep is Good.

Did I ever mention that Steve's father was from the Ukraine? Spoke virulent Ukrainian when angry, heavily accented English otherwise. :)

Jeez, sounds like us Ukrainians couldn't wait to get the hell out of the old country and over here :)

What blood tests have they done? Anything abnormal?

The stuff they give you for the endo. is Verced. You are still responsive to commands (albeit, groggy), but you have absolutely no recollection of the procedure. Temporary amnesia rules. And yeah, you'll want to sleep afterward. Just ask [livejournal.com profile] mallen how I was after he took me home a few times...I think the term he used was "stream of consciousness", and he seemed entertained.

The procedure is a cakewalk. The 12 hours before the procedure is a nightmare.

Hope all goes well.

Oh they've checked for almost everything you can imagine bloodwise, even liver function which immediately made me think of you. But all is normal as far as they can tell. My only fear is that after all of this I'll end up with a non-diagnosis, you know one of those "We don't fucking know" ones with just a hint of "It's all in your head". *sigh*
Anyway, yeah my mom gets endoscopies sometimes as much as once a year and she said the same thing, though I really hope I don't babble. Perhaps I should choose the person who babysits me very wisely indeed that day :)

Yeah, I hope they find something. Me, they discovered quite by accident since my labs were barely abnormal at the time. I went about 7 years of being told there's nothing wrong and it's all in my head. You have no idea how frustrating it is to know that something clearly isn't right, but you can't prove it.

Choose your driver wisely, young grasshoppa. Let us know how it goes (well, we don't need the details of the endo, but the results would be nice =).

Will do, though I'm making sure I don't blog while under the influence, that could be highly embarassing :)
