Mar. 7th, 2006 09:25 amSo we found out last weekend that our beloved teacher, Alyne, is going to be taking a one year sabbatical from dance. She's left S- in charge, and while I like S- I'm not sure I like her enough to schlepp all the way down to SJ multiple times per week to dance with her. I love my troupe and all the gals in it, but this announcement did kind of make me wonder if perhaps now wouldn't be a bad time to branch out a little. Maybe I could try some different dance forms that I just haven't had a chance to check out yet. MV is offering an adult evening class in Chinese dance that has me curious, and I wouldn't mind taking a few tribal dance classes either.
Not quite sure what I'm going to do yet, but I have until May to figure it out.
Anyway, we did quite a bit of talking after class (ended up being there until 10 pm, actually), about the future of the troupe and our hopes and fears regarding it. I do think we're all committed to sticking together as long as possible, but I can see a lot of spin-off mini troups developing from our gigantic Jewel of Opar. Not a bad thing, but it'll be interesting to see how that works out and who ends up with who.
Many apologies to

Second of all, I'm a little bit broken-hearted over this news. But I can see you all going off and doing your own mini-troupe things and then coming back together and being better than ever. :)
